But does not the Speaker the right to accept or reject amendments? and perhaps to limit the opportunity for discussion? ..That seems to be what happened a few weeks ago. I am not an avid viewer of either UK or Irish Parliamentary TV, but I did glean that pearl of wisdom Taking the logic that...

Yours is a valid point, . Again I would ask you what is the minimum legally valid time for a SI to pass all the necessary stages?.

There is no truth in the supposition that the remauners had any hand act or part in the crafting of the current WA. There is much truth in the supposition that while a majority(even if only wafer thin) wanted out of the EU ,that was as far as their concensus extended. To illustrate this , the...

Having thought about it a little. When a PM spends 18 months negotiating a treaty, and then finds it shot down in Parliament, the usual and honourable practice is resign. Obviously that PM has given it their best shot. The options given to her in the last fortnight were utterly unattainable...

And if the EU is not bluffing?. This is typical of the blame game ... . It is NOT the fault of those who wished to remain, that those empowered to negotiate found it a difficult task.

I live within 10 miles of the EU border..so yes it does matter to me. At the time of the running of the referendum, I had assumed that both sides had acted fairly. I was very surprised and disappointed by the result, but had assumed the process was fair. Now the Remainers errors were of...

Yes it is a terrible deal, much worse than the current situation which gives free trade to the major trading block . But significantly better than the potential situation which is no trading with any trading block.

They cannot be binding ,under your form of government. So they are non binding opinion polls. Contrast that with a referendum in Ireland ,where because a written constitution exists, and is the legal contract between the governing and the governed, it is binding. Now the magnitude of the fines...

No. That did not happen on both sides. The referendum was an opinion poll,..under UK norms it cannot be anything else.

The illegality referred to is the funding model used..including the weird funding of a wrapper on London free newspapers, from monies channelled via the DUP resident in NI. The source of the money not adequately explained.

Well since British politicans don't bother reading the 20 odd pages of the GFA , there is little chance of them reading the 500 plus pages of the WA .. But both these documents exist in the public domain. So if they don't know,it is illiteracy or invincible ignorance...

Ok.. I see that, but the question is whether there are mandatory time delays between these stages?. All these stages could in theory be done within a 24 hour period

Congratulations, I fully concur with your analysis. Indeed the ECJ ruling in December stated unequivocally that any decision to withdraw the Article 50 letter, would have to be done in conformance with the democratic norms of the parliament. Now I don't know the speed at which the UK legislature...
