    Throttle use Poll

Thanks for everyone's input so far, if anyone has not yet voted it would be great to get your views as soon as posible, thanks! There is a BEBA meeting on the 24th of this month at which throttles will be discussed. The posts so far have been most useful and informative, giving a solid...

    Are all bikes fragile?

Yes Andrew 27.2mm is correct, although we utilise 30.4mm on our folding bikes as the post is much longer than on the 7 and 9 series bikes. All the best David

    Are all bikes fragile?

Hi Artsu, it may be worth having anther look, on our low price bikes are certainly using many non branded parts but all have been certified to the rigorous EN15194 which includes EN14764, City and trekking bicycles –– Safety requirements. The higher end bikes such as the new SEL and Alpino are...

    Should it be legal....?

Hi NRG, you are correct, we do use a very sophisticated acceleration control on all our new bikes, we call it "soft start". It keeps us within EN19154, decreases the possibility of wheel spin on take off especially in the wet and holds the power back so the motor safety circuits do not...

    Should it be legal....?

I totally agree Scotty, the 250W limit is misleading and in my opinion ill advised however I agree with the 25kph limit. If we could increase the power to 1hp as in the USA we could build useful cargo/post bikes etc and get even more vans off the road. I would also welcome the opportunity...

    Should it be legal....?

Hi 10mph this is correct, most medium/high end pedelecs will peak at higher power than the specified 250W for very a short boost. If they were continually run at such high current the motor would burn out or in most cases a safety control would cut power to the motor. All the best David

    Throttle use Poll

Hi Dave thanks for your input, a couple of pointers; 1. A throttle is perfectly OK on a bike with EN15194 certification, all but one of our bikes have throttles and all are SGS certified to EN15194. EN15194 allows the use of an independent throttle up to 6kph and between 6 and 25kph as long...

    Should it be legal....?

Hi NRG, our controllers are up to 17A depending on the model. The bikes with these controllers were all individually tested by SGS and passed without comment or restriction. All the best David

    Throttle use Poll

Exactly the way I use my throttle D8veh, as well as start up and the odd rest (less frequent now!). The throttle allows a rider to set the assistance to exactly the correct level for the individual's requirements and of course can be increased or decreased without taking your eye off the road or...

I did think of adding this however the bike is then no longer a pedelec, but thanks for the suggestion Shemozzle. Regards David

    Throttle use Poll

Hi Pedelecers all, I wonder of you could help me with a poll regarding the use of a throttle on your pedelec? BEBA has become involved with the question of whether they should remain legal. I am sure you know our position but we would very much appreciate finding out what the feeling is...

Superb Tony! I am sure I saw this bike in Germany recently. A Dutch manufacturer?

    Should it be legal....?

I see this all the time in Kunshan too, entire families of 5 or 6 on one moped, occasionally the moped rider will also have a foot out pushing a pedal cycle too. Amazingly often the only helmet will be on the driver (father) leaving the wife and kids unprotected!

    Should it be legal....?

Hi Jimod, just a quick point, all new Wispers are 100% legal and carry EN15194 certification to prove the point. We have not supplied bikes with an "off road thingy" for quite some time now. All the best David

Throttle issue with a Wisper 905SE and advice on water proofing the control box void.

Thanks a million Bob! It is great to see the forum working so effectively and owners helping others to find solutions to problems. The rear facing scoop is what I refer to as the half cone. It is probably best not to block the front hole as this helps draw air over the controller to remove...

Throttle issue with a Wisper 905SE and advice on water proofing the control box void.

Hi Paul, sorry to read about the issues, I have put an investigation into action to find out what has happened here and if we aware of your bike problems. I need to know where you bought the bike and it's serial number, would it be possible to furnish me with this information? As you can...
