Our Kent variant invaded their countries. Added to that, France has now a new variant. If our variant crossed the channel then the likelihood is their Breton variant will come over here in a month or two.

if I tried to MAKE you change your mind on the EU, what would you say? So why do you think that Ursula von der Lyen should influence the choice of vaccine? Her job is to arrange for approval and sourcing of covid vaccines, not to decide for the individuals which brand they should choose for...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

the EU's approach is fact based, cautious and flexible. Approve the AZ vaccine even with limited trial results, leave the use and deployment to members to decide for themselves and pool the resources and studies. It minimises the risk to the population while wasting nothing. BJ made a bet which...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

it's a new technology so much of the side effects still needs to be found out. I like the EU's approach. It's fact based and cautious. the EU/AZ row back in Feb is a separate issue. Now we know now a lot more since because we have extensive facts and figures from NHS England and Scotland in...

that's not correct. The EU's strategy is similar to the US and to the UK. They subsidised the cost of expanding manufacturing to Pfizer and AZ like UK and US. The experts have gone over the EU/AZ contract. Where they got it wrong is to have looser wording and not forecast contractual obligations...

I appreciate that, but the vast majority (90+%) of those at risk of death have been vaccinated with first jab more than 3 weeks ago, so I would expect deaths going down to near zero like NZ or Australia, at least less than 1% by now (50- deaths a day).

    Brexit, for once some facts.

If you look at the ratio deaths per 100 positive cases, it has gone down a fair amount but still not enough to make me feel safe. We still have 2% death for those tested positive, 100 deaths, 5000 cases a day. 2%. In the last few days, there is a new 'Breton' variant in France that escapes PCR...

it's more of a case that the right wing press finds a needle to prod brexiteers with. One went as far as suggesting that 'we are all brexiteers now'.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

the EU did not break any law. Article 122 of the EU treaty allows the Commission to impose export control in exceptional circumstances like severe shortage of essential goods. It's counter productive any way. Producers of chemicals and consumables for the manufacture of the vaccines are...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

morbid fascination how the EU is doing or desire to give ourselves a pat on the back? or is it electioneering as young middle age people like Kelly Spencer on BBC Click was so pleased that he cried when his vaccine call arrived? still, some EU countries have followed UK's lead to extend the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The Pfizer vaccine is an mRNA, m = messenger. It does not interfere with our DNA but uses the infected cell to produce the real vaccine, the spike protein. The AZ vaccine is a real virus, it is called a vector virus because it is genetically modified to contain a small fraction of Covid RNA...
