d8veh, you forgot the VAT and other running costs. if I own a bike shop, I wouldn't touch Chinese bikes with a barge pole. there is no money in it.

    Bosch bearings

isn't it true that the warranty is issued by the brand? if so, then is the brand ultimately liable to cover repairs if the dealer fails to honour the warranty (eg unsatisfactory repairs)? I know of a case where extended warranty was sold with the goods, the dealer subsequently went bust, the...

    Bosch bearings

you buy a second hand 2 year old Kalkhoff and have a problem. So you ring 50Cycles, who are the official importers. You can expect that 50Cycles have the expertise and spares, and are capable of arranging any repair. My question to Col: why can't you expect the same level of service with other...

boris, there may be a problem with your 48V battery. I tested the 36V 18A 350W motor, it has no problem blitzing 5% hill on throttle alone, even on 18T or 22T rear cog. You need a battery that can deliver at least 20A continously, or more.

Is this the best value new bike, release soon?

the derailleur is spring loaded, non load bearing, the chain just runs through it. The noise that can some times be heard when changing gear comes from the chain straddling two rear cogs, when you change gear while the chain is still under load. There is therefore no mechanical reason why the...

Oh God- What have I done?

you need to connect all the wires. The three thick wires (yellow, green and blue) are for the motor phases, the other 5 wires are for the 3 hall sensors (5V, ground and 3 Hall signals). If you use connectors, separate the 3 phase wires (30A) from the 5 Hall wires (100mA).

the red blob on the side of the BB in the picture below looks like a strain gauge for torque measuring. You can't access the interface between the spindle and the BB shell with standard Isis BB.

Yet another big bloke with a grand to spend...

112kg + Cornish hills for under £1000? Woosh Big Bear. It's a very good bike. It's not enough to have a big powerful motor (B.P.M.), you need to match it with a big powerful battery. The Bear 36V battery management system can deliver 28A continuously. Not many bikes can do this.

    Hello....confused from Cirencester area.

most crank drives have gear sensors now, even Woosh CDs will have one soon. The Woosh gear sensor can be retrofitted to existing woosh CDs, it plugs into the right hand side brake sensor socket.

    Folding Bike

Very few folding bikes can be wheeled. Bromptons, Airnimals and Bike Friday are the obvious choices. http://www.atob.org.uk/folding-bikes/folding-bike-buyers-guide-uk/ The contortionist is another interesting one: http://inhabitat.com/contortionist-foliding-bike-rolls-up-smaller-than-a-wheel/...

Why wouldn't I buy from this chap?

this looks like a scam. if the item is from bankrupt stock, why can't it be collected or shipped at the close of the auction? why wait 21-23 days after you have paid? why does it have to be shipped from the distributor? if the owner has already gone under, then which distributor is going to ship...

asterduc, welcome to the forum. it would help if you could post some pictures - there are many models of tongxin motors over the years. The main thing is to tell us whether it has Hall sensors or not, in case a replacement is a better solution

yes, Hatti confirmed that she'll take the blue Rascal test bike with the BBS01 18A 350W motor to Redbridge but it will have to be restricted because of public tracks.

that's why I thought the BBS01 36V 18A 350W is just right. It gives about 85% of the pulling power of the BPM but whisperingly quiet. Civilized and cheap transport.
