    Brexit, for once some facts.

Very interesting question. If the queen really is forced to do whatever she is told, then refusing to be prorogued would not seem to be in any sense defiance of the queen's acquiescence. Perhaps they should sit in Manchester, coming so soon after the Peterloo anniversary and after decades of...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Both sides need to consider the reasons for them not winning by a landslide. They need to take account of those reasons and, so far as reasonable practicable, seek to address them. So far, the brexit campaign seems to have taken every opportunity to make brexit look ever worse to people like...

I certainly don't claim any special knowledge of the UK constitution. Just pointing out that "Yes" because it was what the person thinks was the appropriate, right and proper thing for the queen to do is fundamentally different to "Yes" simply because she had no choice.

Lots of questions which are not really what they seem. Was the queen right to approve prorogation? Well, I want to answer, of course she wasn't, but I am not at all sure what the consequences of refusal would have been. And, technically, if she really had no choice what does it mean for me to...

That could provide quite a number of MPs to move to other parties, albeit only for a limited period. The effects on tory voters come the next GE might not be quite what BJ implies.

I so agree. But, if we do need to get ready, let us have the information in order to do so. Finding out that a campaign is going to be run doesn't actually help any of us to get ready, does it? Delaying publication in order to conform with some "launch" is madness. The obvious way of doing...

Probably far more reason to approve that than paying for non-existent ferries.

So the involvement of the courts, inevitably, really has begun: A legal bid in Belfast to injunct Boris Johnson’s move to suspend Parliament has been adjourned for 24 hours. The injunction application was made by prominent victims campaigner Raymond McCord, who was already pursing legal...

With a so-called government from a party chock-full of hypocrites: 'Mad suggestion': how Tory ministers once viewed call to prorogue parliament There was a time when Matt Hancock said it would disrespect war dead and Amber Rudd branded it a ‘ridiculous suggestion’...

BJ is such a liar and dissembler that doing what he said actually constitutes lying. After all, no-one ever expects that.

It is not as if we can all go elsewhere to purchase parts for our European cars, is it? Yes, the odd lamp or what have you, but a considerable number of parts is effectively only available from the manufacturers. Perhaps if we had set up knock-off version factories and could then supply the...

From your point of view, I can see that. I cannot see the UK government accepting inspection by EU inspectors. We (at least NI) would yet again remain under the control of the EU and surely they would be operating with the ultimate authority of the ECJ?
