I am rather worried that I am starting to think Simon Cowell would be more appealing than any of the official candidates.

Probably going to buy some old Lockheed Constellations to quell the riots. Or deport immigrants. Or fly people across the Thames. Despite advice that it isn't a good idea.

I don't want prima donna stars - I want solid, hard-working, intelligent, humane, ethical human beings. Whichever party is in government. What about the rest of you? (Definitely don't expect to get what I want.)

Agreed. If he couldn't muster the discipline when occupying one of the very top seats of government, he is not suitable to be PM. I'd suggest Lynton Crosby - but who is pulling his strings/greasing his palm?

Don't think that is quite true - the muscle relaxant effects are of great benefit. There have been a few reports of using regional anaesthesia for thyroidectomy. There are some advantages but would have to check to be reminded of the details. One issue that is often ignored is that any...

We have significant issues with GP surgeries which, in general, are owned by the doctors. If a surgery decides they don't want to carry on, for any reason including not enough money coming in, they can shut up shop and leave people without an accessible surgery. And overload any neighbouring...

Agreed that this is an arguable point. But I suspect that attempting to snort would be taken as an indication that the person is in charge of it. If it was in his house, on his table, and no-one else around, who else could be in possession? (I have no idea of the circumstances.)

I have decided that, if possible, I would try to go for alternative anaesthesia, maybe local or regional, rather than a general. I did for my lower wisdom teeth which were very difficult to remove.

I would like to think that we could all be trusted with any drugs - medical or recreational - without the system of controls that exist. That includes the whole prescription system as well as criminal law. Trouble is, I don't believe it possible. There are too many drugs which have impacts...

The situation with regard to one medicine, liothyronine, highlights a major problem with no price controls. It went from about £24 (for 28 x 20 microgram tablets) round 7 years ago, to about £240 now. It achieved this by de-branding - i.e. changing from a branded medicine to generic. There are...

Do people like PMs actually have to apply for visas when visiting countries on official visits? Did Trump have to apply for a UK visa for his recent trip here? (If yes, did we really grant him one?) Not saying that this makes it all right. Just a protocol question.
