Sadly - it was sort-of right. We don't have to fear them leaving after brexit, they will already have gone.

My memory is of the trolley buses of Newcastle (the upon Tyne one, not Emlyn). Surely today we could store enough energy in even fairly modest batteries (or supercaps) to allow the problems of short re-routing, complex junctions, etc. to be overcome? Just having the overhead wires when it is...

Worse than that, possibly an unincorporated territory of the United States. Look at the wonderful advantages Puerto Rica receives from that status.

Which is a reason to question whether Corbyn could make it. Labour appears to have been a huge enabler, indeed supporter, of brexit. Blame will attach to them - albeit perhaps not quite so strongly as some of the others.

Which is what is so ridiculous about hearing vox pops "I'm sick of it", "Just get it over", "Once we're out we can ... <fill in your own remembered fragment>".

And I have actually been to Pryce Jones - don't think I bought anything though. At the time they operated a catalogue returns shop full of the sort of junk you would expect. No idea if they still do? Funny how they mention North Wales - I would usually describe it as Mid-Wales.

If I drive uphill then downhill - and back - I seem to get better mileage than on many flatter trips. Recently I have regularly been getting well over 70 mpg on my beach visits despite the pretty steep hill coming up from sea level. Going elsewhere it is quite often below 60 mpg.

To travel to Swansea and back in one day costs £17.80. Regardless. I don't have a £5.50 option but I also don't get gouged for £58.50. And I am free to change time of travel. Distance? Approximately half the London - Birmingham trip.

The railways have long been considered essential for movement of things military. Remember the build-up to the Falklands? At the time I travelled about 20 miles commuting by train. The amount of rolling stock, much with obvious things like military vehicles loaded, was astonishing. I really...

At least we know that the petition website can support large numbers of votes and doesn't break at 100,001. :)

I can only assume that whoever wrote those words did not expect them to be seen and discussed in public in the UK. Or were stupid enough to think they would not be highly inflammatory.

Asking a question, such as "What determines partner choice in humans?", is potentially interesting. What Widdecombe said immediately places a judgement upon the choice. You said: why not about same sex attraction. Again, whatever determines sex attraction is interesting but the same factors...

If we assume it is so incredibly easy to fake votes, I find it extraordinary that the number ended up as a) believable; b) grew and stopped growing in a way that looked sensible. Why hasn't anyone with untold millions of email addresses ramped the total up to 100,000,000 and demonstrated beyond...
