    Brexit, for once some facts.

I regret to suggest that it is a hard Brexit you are heading towards. There seems to be no suggestions on the table from the UK side which counter that. The paper on the Irish border problem is only workable in one way... That Ireland votes to rejoin the UK. All other scenarios are unworkable...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Hi Tommie, since Brexit has not yet happened, it is premature to say that NI farmers have been lied to. The only fact so far is that sterling has devalued significantly over the post referendum period. In so far as the farmers are primary producers and selling into a sterling market, and into a...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Hang on Tommie, Neither we in the ROI or yourselves in NI wanted to leave the EU. You at least got a vote, and sensible sound people you are, soundly rejected the notion. You should be peeved that your voice wasn't listened to.

He might be correct about the number of the roads, but has he counted boreens , culverts, fields , barns and houses straddling the border. Even with radar, helicopter patrols , gunboats and foot patrols, there was illicit traffic accross those same fields for 30 years and smuggling since 1922...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't agree with the proposition that the EU team and Barnier wants to slow things down. They just cannot negotiate without proposals. Now they have a proposal here, it's half baked but is a proposal.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

What many people in mainland UK probably don't realise is how porous and long the border between NI and the ROI is and how porous the links between NI and Scotland are. The Scottish isles are only short jaunt by motor launch from say the giants causeway, and a bit further from Donegal, but...

Can I charge my battery with a solar panel?

That is confusing the issue. The OP asked a valid question. Some additional information. The peak power from the sun on a very bright sunny day at noon is slightly under 1000 watts per square metre. This is broadly irrespective of summer or winter... PV panels are around 20% efficient, so with...

We don't. Almost every group labeled terrorist by some group are viewed as defenders or freedom fighters by another. Your working definition would condemn those drone pilots in fort Bragg as terrorist.

Tommie have you a clear and universally acceptable definition of a terrorist? I certainly don't. I abhor anyone deliberately inflicting pain on another.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

.. wasn't he correct.. irish nationalism and a desire to have a thirty two county state is a legitimate political aim. Seeking to retain a union with the mainland of England Scotland and Wales is also a legitimate political aim. Killing and bombing people in order to achieve or retain either...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

.. the bit about other countries suffering less damage in WW2.??? Like Germany perhaps. One of the arguments about west Germanys rapid economic development in the 1950s is attributed to the fact that all their manufacturing base was destroyed, and they had to invest in new technology. As a...

.. but other countries have not been suffocating. I am referring at present to France, where there does seem to be a lot of investment in infrastructure, and a lot of local participation in civic events. It is difficult not to consider that there might be other factors at play if the UK feels...

    replacement chains and guards

The Raleigh Captus \ Motus make specific reference in their sales specs that they use a specific ebike chain..... This is also a central drive motor . Now either they are having us on or there is merit.... I would not be hung up on the brand, but if there is a e bike version then it would be...

Can I charge my battery with a solar panel?

Sorry Kathymac, it's one of those good ideas that basically doesn't work. Unless there is a lot of input. Those solar panels typically produce 12v DC voltage into a load . Let's say it was a 100watt panel, that means that it would under best sunshine conditions produce maybe 14 to 15 volts...

It would, and was he wearing one either?. Look it was a very unfortunate accident, one with fatal consequences, second guessing does nobody any good. There would be no fatal falls if we all went around in those fun inflatable sumo wrestler suits, but there might be an increase in heart...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Apologies, I have re read the section again and find I must agree with you in part. The fixie constitutes a braking system, so he can claim to have had a brake. However the same section requires that where the wheel cannot move independent of the pedals, ie a fixie, that it must be the...
