Powerful e-bike commuter/runaround for hilly area

I think the basic idea is this: manufacturers would fit 350W and 500W motors to their S-pedelecs. In their tests, users reported averaging 20mph for 350W and 23mph for 500W bikes. So the bikes are not particularly powerful. Type approval would not be required. Users still need to be registered...

Powerful e-bike commuter/runaround for hilly area

no, I don't mean stick to 250W. The BBSHD isn't 250W labelled anyway. If you build anything with more than 48V (13S), you need to take a lot more precautions for your own safety beside space for a number plate and lighting. There is an interesting article about Belgium 'Moped Class P'...

don't go there. You want to build an electric motorbike, you need to start with a bike that is suitable for future type approval. Check the specs of GreyP bikes, they went through type approval: suspension, dual circuit hydraulics, indicators, kickstand, number plate, lighting etc.

more testing. The Chinese developed a blood test for specific antibody and two specific corvid genes that gives them accurate knowledge of who's got the infection and which stage they are in, thus they know how effective their isolation measures are. We wait for people who are either having...

I went to an exhibition for that type of equipment in their early days, still remember how fascinated I was watching the pick and place machines. Most stands were showing German, Japanese and Korean machines. I knew then that we've lost the chance building computers here after the euphoria of...

I remember the time when I tried to teach my children how to solder and how disinterested they were. On the other hand, I taught my son how to program in VB and Miscrosoft access database, he picked that up right away. My daughter showed zero interest.

    New battery tech coming soon

battery prices will come down like in this graph (take it with a suitable pinch of salt, but the rough shape is ok): Price in US$, per kWH for e-cars. The leap (2014-2015) is when Li-S batteries replace Li-Ion in extended batteries. When that happens, you'd be mad to buy a new car with IC motor.

simpler installation, a bit less wires to hide, better weight distribution, better centre of gravity. You will have to remove your beautiful Tigra crankset, but keep the rear 9-speed cassette. The TSDZ2 comes with 42T single chainring and new cranks, will accept another smaller BCD 110mm 34T...

    New battery tech coming soon

they've been doing research work on Li-S batteries since 1960s. Li-S batteries for cars are nearly ready, still have to wait for possibly 5-10 more years. For bikes, a bit longer. but that's the direction of progress. from wiki: As of 2015 few companies had been able to commercialize the...

they discharge it at 0.5C. Pretty useable for e-bikes. PS: 99% retention: that seems a bid dodgy. They use some formula that I have not looked at. Here are the test charts:
