Putting e-bike to bed for the duration of C-virus.

How silly of the RAC. Don't drive away safely enclosed in a car but do cycle or walk away physically exposed to others doing the same! In fact as I type this there's a women on the radio speaking of groups of cyclists gathering close together, including at a drinks machine. .

But the government say cycling is ok and cyclists have very large numbers of road accidents needing hospitalisation. In fact being so vulnerable, they are far more likely to need hospitalisation than car occupants in an accident. This alone shows how irrational the rules are if rigidly...

Putting e-bike to bed for the duration of C-virus.

The exercise is vital, so what do I do as I'm in a flat with no garden? Having exhausted all the activities possible in my home and with no safe local walks I drive a short distance to where I can safely exercise at no risk to myself or others. .

That risk is far, far lower than that for catching the virus in our crowded urban conditions. Traffic is well down on the norm anyway, so the accident risk is much lower too. My over half a century of driving with no accidents and full NCB is a pretty good insurance against that too There...

??? They'd both have to be less than 10 inches wide! In our obesity ridden modern world they are often approaching a metre wide each! .

I fully agree, but don't tar with the same brush the very sensible and responsible among us. .

It is precisely because I am thinking about everyone else that I'm doing what I do to keep them and myself safe. Boris Johnson has now tested positive for the coronavirus, hardly suprising. He goes out for his daily exercise run on our crowded and very risky urban streets. He should have...

And he does his run for exercise in the urban area, far more risky than driving out of town for it. .

But not maintain 2 metres separation at all times, far from it. Urban pavements are commonly 1.3 to 1.5 metres wide and rarely 2 metres or over. They are often bounded by walls etc on one side and heavy traffic or railings on the other, so it's often impossible to pass with any separation. A...

The police don't make the rules and should read them before getting heavy handed. The government have been sensible in using the word "try" to maintain 2 metres separation. For many that is impossible in our local areas but easy to achieve in the countryside, so that is what we do.

Indeed, I think the National Trust have got it wrong closing all their car parks and denying many towns people isolation and good separation in their large open country spaces. .

Putting e-bike to bed for the duration of C-virus.

You really aren't thinking are you? All any of us can do is minimise our own risk, and that is what I'm doing. I've tried twice to get out for necessary exercise by walking in my urban home area, and both times its proved impossible to maintain 2 metres separation at all times, despite every...

They won't have to look too far, the farmer was an offender against common sense. In what way is someone walking a dog in the countryside putting others at risk where they are least likely to meet anyone else? All the farmer did by approaching the dog walker was create a contact risk...

The police are not the rule makers, even though they often pretend to be in overbearing ways as in this matter. When they make unauthorised silly rulings of their own they need to be opposed where necessary. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The police have got this very, very wrong, not uncommon. If these people walk for exercise or to take the dog out in their town areas, they will often inevitably get very close to all the others doing it, at times unable to be two metres apart. Driving from their homes enclosed in their cars...

That's defeatist, not being British neither of you have the Dunkirk Spirit. ;) We'll sail though this, we managed the black death ok. That killed more than half the population and the period following was one of the best times to live with a big rise in common people's living standards. .
