Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

That's unfair. The reason London has so much bike theft by volume is because it has four times the population of the next largest city and is also by far the one where cycling is most popular due to the congestion charge. There are more bikes used in commuting alone here than there are...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

He's a chump, but of course this is the Daily Mail again. Here's one of the things Grayson said: "Only then could it reconnect with the centrist voters who are Left-wing." He's an idiot, if they are centrist they are not left wing. Labour was founded to be a left wing Socialist party and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think that bridge could ever be justified, given how small the economic units are. Northern Ireland under 1.9 millions, Southern under 5 millions, and Scotland around the same. The very poor road and rail infrastructure throughout Great Britain hardly helps the case. .

A bit like Trump's fence that the Mexicans were going to pay for, according to him. It isn't going to be completed, it can't be, and the Mexicans aren't paying a penny. Why would th EU pay for a bridge between two non-member countries? They wouldn't of course, Johnson really is an idiot. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Only in some jobs Danidl, you persist in posting this gross exaggeration. Those who don't qualify for access to the sort of jobs you speak of often don't even want those sort of jobs anyway. And the requirements for access to those jobs are frequently far from stringent, though your...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes that's true of large organisations, but what is practiced is often not what is preached. Then the three tyrants of practicality, availability and expediency can and often do come into play to get the job done. .

You might be surprised at how capable functionally illiterate people can be. I certainly have been on a few occasions, people can be very clever in cunning ways at hiding their disadvantages. Remember that universal education is very recent, for many centuries vast numbers of illiterate people...

Not only is 50Herz correct in what he's posted and I've seen for myself, you are wrong on this in a way you probably wouldn't know. The London Underground continuous track replacement program over it's large network is entirely manual in the middle of the nights. Each individual rail and...

You clearly have a very strange understanding of the English language if you think that is a continuation of what you've posted before on job availability. Of course there are many jobs that require literacy and more at all stages, I've never disputed it. But that wasn't this discussion until...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

So now you've once again changed the subject, this time to better placement in society. Changing the subject midstream like this is is hardly honest. Earlier in the discussion you said this: " What I continue to say is that one and two generations ago, the ability to be illiterate and non...

Oh dear, you really do seem to lack any practical experience in this area. Illiterate people are often very clever in hiding their disadvantage and have no such problem. Someone who is still a good friend to this day was a warehouseman in the last company I joined. A good reliable employee...

Functionally illiterate is meaningless in the context of many of the jobs I mentioned which the functionally illiterate can do and do. Again I think you are guilty of underrating the ability of others. And where on earth have you got Ho Chi Minh city from in the basic jobs I mentioned...

I'm not taking it personally Danidl, I'm just trying to show you how hopelessly wrong you are on this subject. Read on and you'll discover that there are far more unskilled jobs now than at any other time since WW2. I use to have a lot of respect for you, but now you are rapidly losing it...

You stated only fruit or potato picking, so it is not as you stated. As I showed the range of jobs open to virtually all and needing little or no literacy is vast and always will be. I don't know what imaginary world you live in, but in my UK world the number who cannot read or write at all...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think Boris intends five years, I think he'll go to the country in three years time for re-election. Why do I think that? Well the first clue is that he's said he is going to immediately cancel the fixed term parliament act, obviously that is for a purpose. The second clue is how he...

That's a considerable change from what you were posting, and we are not facing your imagined problem. Untrue yet again. Where I live on a large estate we run our own management company and are employers. The people we employ for a wide range of tasks are never questioned about educational qualifications or literacy and numeracy abilities. Our concern is only that they can do the jobs...
