    Brexit, for once some facts.

interesting reading. “Contract it and gain immunity or hide away”. I belong to the high risk group so contracting it is not an option. QUOTE: The public are confused about what to think and do The second strongest theme to emerge throughout this exercise was the lack of clarity and the...

it's quite easy to electrify a CF bike as long as you don't need crazy power that SW posted above. A small battery can be placed inside a saddle bag together with the controller. If you need more range, you can fit a small frog battery to an aluminium seat post. I also have a torque sensor kit...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

all those who turn up at the coronavirus daily briefing seems to me all turn spin doctors and condone this government's strategy. when the dust settles, I hope they can find some way to sleep. Their strategy of herd immunity and now an ill prepared ramp up of testing will have caused tens of...

the inframe battery is 36V * 8AH, 288WH, good for about 30 miles on electrics. The external battery gives 36V 17AH, twice the inframe battery. The bike is quite lightweight, I usually ride without power to get a bit of exercise. It is also easily upgradeable. You can drop in a carbon fork...

as I said, you can spend a lot of money on a lightweight e-bike and if at the end, all you want from it is a little help on hills then a large portion of that money goes into hiding the battery somewhere so it does not say 'I am electric'. An Aikema 85SX rear motorwheel weighs about 2.5kgs. It...

if you have a carbon bike with a 52T chainring, I reckon you could hit 40mph with a motor.

true, but you can't go 50mph with a fazua or a bosch either.

if you carry the battery then you can have a tiny motor in the rear hub, hide the controller inside the seat pin and nobody will know your secret weapon. £500 will do it, not needing £3000.

    The difference between 42 & 46T chainrings

I said I agreed with you. Bigger chainring, less wear on the ring, more stress and wear on the motor.

    The difference between 42 & 46T chainrings

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque You can see that for a fixed amount of torque, if the radius r increases, then the force F decreases. A bigger ring has less force applied to its teeth. The wear is proportional to the force applied to the teeth. If force F decreases, then wear of the...

viruses need to be (preferably jet) washed away, not just wiped.

    The difference between 42 & 46T chainrings

if you have more teeth on the chainring then the same amount of torque is spread onto more teeth. You transfer some more of the stress and wear from the ring to the internal gears. A 46T ring has an easier life compared to a 42T ring.

Keep quiet, don't tell my wife!

I don't know. I can only buy Shimano and Bafang crank drives with torque sensor in the open market. My guess is they all have some problems one kind or the other. Bosch is singled out here because of Andy-Mat. I usually pick on RobF's posts because he ritually rubbishes anything that is Chinese.

to me, yes, it all sounds very reasonable but to some, not so. Why could they not expect the electrics easy to get it serviced outside the guarantee period? Bosch dealers can't help you much inside nor outside the guarantee. That's an anomaly, not the rule for other bikes, cars or motorbikes...
