    Lockdown

he tried to answer a question put to him by Sophy Ridge on Sky News without thinking much about it. Is sunbathing against the rules? um.. yes. he should have taken time to explain the difficulty of policing parks and green spaces at the weekend and ask nicely for cooperation. Now he's turned...

Looking for ebike with electronic shifters and removable battery for easy charging

if it's a hub bike then yes, if it's a crank drive then you have to be in the right gear all the time to be kind to your bike and keep your cadence high. Crank drive motors give more power if you keep up your cadence. Most people with arthritis would choose a hub bike but it's not a rule.

    Battery voltage

42V is at the charging port. The electricity has to cross at least two FET junctions, one between the charging port and the cellpack, the second between the cellpack and the output port. You put in 42V and get 41.6V at the output.

    Lockdown

our government has no other choice than imposing a lockdown because our ministers can't just isolate the carriers. They have no idea how many, who and where CV carriers are. Instead of being pro-active, they keep their fingers crossed, make rousing speeches and promise ever bigger spending.

How is an eBike battery determined to be "Fully Charged" ? By the charging unit? Or by the BMS?

the BMS is usually set to switch off the output when the voltage drops below 31V for a 36V battery. no, it the charger. It's usually set to switch the output (of the charger) from CC (constant current) to CV (constant voltage) when the voltage is higher than 41.5V for a 36V Lithium Ion battery...

    Lockdown

CV kills around 700 a day at the moment when there are fewer than 1 million carriers. When the number of carriers doubles to 2 millions, the death toll will double to 1,400 a day. When the number of carriers doubles again to 4 millions, CV will kill 3,000 a day. It can easily double that again...

    Lockdown

flu kills less than one in a thousand cases. CV kills 4.3% on average. 50 times more deadly. That's why a third of the world is paralysed. we have to find a treatment otherwise we are finished.

    Lockdown

SW, until the scientists find a treatment, potentially 4.3% of us are going to die of CV within a couple of years, plus possibly another million from other causes because the NHS will be completely paralysed by CV.

    Lockdown

I think the government brace themselves for CV to hit hard next week. They'd rather go to overdrive with lockdown just in case it does not peak next weekend.

Looking for ebike with electronic shifters and removable battery for easy charging

yes. Buy a normal e-bike and change the shifter. That's what I've done on the Woosh Rambla with a shimano revoshift: https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?rambla

Bike not moving when putted on the ground

make sure first that the motor is still running. next check the TPI on the special freewheel. It should be left hand threaded. Make sure you can turn the teeth clockwise on it and it freewheels when you do so. Post a close up picture of the freewheel if you can. It should look like this...

    Lockdown

I think the authorities over-react a little because even with distancing, you can fit thousands in a large park making policing much more difficult especially at weekends.

google e-bikes with e-shift. as SW said, you are looking at £4k+ bikes.

How is an eBike battery determined to be "Fully Charged" ? By the charging unit? Or by the BMS?

there is no real merit in 'conditioning' a battery when it's new. You do that deep cycle to get rid of the dendrites clogging up your electrodes and verifying the remaining capacity of your battery. Dendrites form on the electrodes when batteries are kept in storage for a long period (a year for...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Those who are immune keep the virus at very low level but not without virus. The virus can still be shed by them. That explains why we can't get rid of the common cold. The 20% who do not have herd immunity are/will be still exposed, albeit to a much lesser extend, the risk is reduced but not...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Patrick Vallance is obviously not a mathematician. If for example 80% of the population acquires herd immunity and the hospitalisation rate is 20% then 20% of the 80% = 16% of the population would have needed NHS hospitalisation. The NHS has only about 142,000 beds. It can take at most 30,000...
