Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

I had not wished to return to this discussion but I find it difficult not to do so when untruths or half-truths are being peddled as fact. You are free to put any unpowered boat into the seas of Europe. There are not licences on canoes. The reason why powered boats need regulation is exactly...

I consider that this is impressive evidence of a concerned society.

YAMAHA EASY.. Old pedelec ebike but the 24v mid drive unit has potential

Hi I suspect that we have differing opinions as to what constitutes grace. That topic I will not address further. However to technical matters. 1. You have not indidated the source by which you achieved 24v to apply across thick red and black cables . This matters as the motor and...

Anyone seen this? Hydrogen powered bike

It is the mixture of materials used to adsorb the hydrogen which is costly. Producing the hydrogen is child's play. What is astounding is that the adsorb ed hydrogen bottles can hold more hydrogen at room pressure than can high pressure cylinders at 500psi!

Anyone seen this? Hydrogen powered bike

Hydrogen would just float away, . The problem is in how it is stored. The old fashioned steel cylinders will store it at about 500 psi 40 bar and if they ruptured, there would be a rapid release. The newer technique is to store it under 2 bar in a special recipe of materials which chemically...

Anyone seen this? Hydrogen powered bike

Hi Define efficient. This is not a sarcastic put down . The combustion of hydrogen and air produces 100% heat, nitro OXY compounds, water vapour and in a internal combustion engine, up to 30% of the energy in mechanical motion. In a fuel cell, the reaction with air will produce water...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

Hi You have indicated that I am being cavalier in my attitudes to risk, I would dispute that . Had you continued in your analysis and used the base line figures you would have found that in the same year the actual road deaths , not the number of accidents or incidents tell a completely...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

Happy to note it was. "Tongue in cheek ". Most accidents by cyclists will end up damaging themselves and not third parties. Most home insurance policies cover indemnity to third parties by the householder, that insurance companies have not found it necessary to restrict access to this fund or...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

I don't think that is a crazy idea, town planning is a modern discipline but we tend tor live in Old cities and villages . When new suburbs are being planned, that is the stage where the streaming of traffic flows should occur. Trams on dedicated paths, separate from the heavy motorised...

YAMAHA EASY.. Old pedelec ebike but the 24v mid drive unit has potential

Hi do you have a rudimentary knowledge of electronics? Even electronic engineers are mere mortal, I have yet to see one walk on water, and it is an area in which I have been teaching for decades. If you measured 5.1v then you presumably had access to a multimeter and you measured across two...

    Verbatin Reports

Thanks for that d8v, I have no knowledge of the Cyclamatic so your comments may help Persus, my question relates to the motor on the UrbanMoverwhich is a slightly earlier vintage 2007, and a 24v 200w motor. In my case it feels like cycling through treacle, even on the flat. I assumed that...

New to this thinking of commuting

Hi I would agree with almost everything LeighPing has said but 1. while you can get up to a speed of 15 miles per hour and keep it up for an hour or more without tiring yourself out or sweating, I doubt that you can do this through traffic . So you would probably need more like 1.5 hrs with...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

Why stop there, those pesky pedestrians are soiling the pavement s, those prams with noisy children should all be registered and have to pay. .... If everybody followed the rules of the road there would be no accidents,.... But life Is not like that. There is a reason why cars and...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

"Ooh you are awful, fancy that" But getting back on topic, my heart is with the cyclist but my head is not. The car had stopped, it's lights were showing, it was only a footstep away from the pavement, and the passenger opened the nearside door. It would have been impossible for the driver to...

    Verbatin Reports

Hi Your decision to post actual case histories is to be applauded, and I hope you list more of them, however once you publish you must expect critical comment. In the case of your own ebike, there are references to a model extremely similar to it dating from 2009, on this website, so if that...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

KudosDave, the EU does not hate the UK. Obviously I cannot talk for the reminder of the 500 million, but any discussions I have had would be along the lines of: we are puzzled and bewildered that the UK has or intends to throw away what we perceive to be a worthwhile marriage. Those of us who...

    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

Yes that is all consistent with what I previously argued, a pedelec is a system and it is the system which is licenced under the EPAC designation.

    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

I think the situation with mobile signal boosters is not that they are illegal to install, but illegal to switch on and broadcast a signal ,. It is the broadcasting of the signal on controlled wavelength s which is unauthorised. I would like to think that UK police have more pressing matters...
