    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have to disagree. The temperature difference is only couple of degrees even in very large urban environments like central London. Heat escaping from buildings rises to escape while the colder air resulting from air heat extraction remains below and will pool in the high density building...

The trouble with any heat pumps for the future is the way large areas of high density building renders it ineffective, even self defeating, creating large zones of ever lower temperatures to extract from. That's especially true for air or shallow ground sources. .

At least it was quite decisive, I'd feared it might be by one vote or so. We might as well scrap the whole leave idea. We have a Remain parliament, we have a population that has changed its majority mind to Remain, and we were never going to leave properly anyway. .

In the sense you mean this, so is the UK, so is even England. One only needs to look at North South disparities to see how true this is. But the evil of size is essential to prosperity for almost all countries in this modern world. We can't all be the Isle of Man. .

Thank you. But I was justifying ignoring the referendum on the basis of our norm of parliamentary democracy. But if we must stick with using referenda now, then let's have a confirming one now since the reasons for that are far more valid than they were for the 2016 one. .

Not surprising, 25 feet isn't remotely deep enough. These deep ones like the 200 metre bore holes I quoted do work well. But as you say, the air sourced are brilliant as my car one shows, even in the coldest weather. .

It's continuing to happen in London. My council on a next door council estate is refurbishing a ten storey block and replacing its old central heating with a heat pump system extracting heat from over 200 metres depth. Specialist company Kensa are intending to complete the latter by the...

But once we go the referenda route, it should continue. It shouldn't be said a referendum just once and that's it cast in stone. That is not democracy. Just as parliament can and often does change it's mind as circumstances change, so the same must apply to referenda. In the over three years...

The 1975 referendum should also never have been held and I always opposed it. But of course we should have joined because that was our parliament's decision. You don't seem to understand that you are arguing against yourself, opposed to what you see as split control from both London and...

This is utter nonsense, there always has to be layers of power since complexity makes an all embracing single layer impossible. Just look at the UK's many layers from parish councils through to national assemblies and governments. As I've so often pointed out to you but you seem unable to...

Precisely, which is why there should never have been a referendum and the result of it should have been ignored in the national interest. .

This is a myth. We will have to have a trade deal with the EU and freedom of movement will come with it, as every other example shows. The best example is that of Switzerland that I illustrated with a program link in the post that started this thread. Seven years, 120 trading agreements...

I can't stand these shifters and with single chainwheels have long used SRAM's Shimano compatible twistgrip shifters. Single action, much more convenient and ability to shift instantly to any gear at any time. .

I listened to that too and agree. It's not the only vox pop I've heard from the north with similar views. I can only think isolationism prompts their Brexit impulses, not wanting anything to do with Johnny Foreigner. .

I'm sure you are right, since he'll be desperate to avoid the confirmatory question which would almost certainly be Deal or Remain. Any mention of No Deal just won't get through the House. .

In all the talk of Bojo having made a new deal, they've been keeping very quiet about the EU's £39 billions. My guess is that the bulk of this "new deal" is still May's deal, including what we pay. .
