    Cube or Moustache?

I like to fix things myself, so I'd always choose one on thart basis, but not everybody can do that. My point is that if you buy many brands, not only can you not fix them yourself, but you can only deal with the repair through the original supplier, which is going to be a right pain if you...

    Cube or Moustache?

There's more to choosing a bike than the way it looks, what features it has or how fantastic the motor is. Sooner or later you will need to get it fixed. You need to think about who will do that and how. A Yamaha battery is very expensive. Most faults with them can only be diagnosed or fixed by...

Help! (HOW) 250W voilamart kit with LCD3?

You have to tell the controller what to use as a speed signal. If you set P2 to zero, it should pick up the speed signal from the motor hall sensors as long as you have a sensored motor. If you have a sensorless motor, you must use a separate wheel speed sensor and set P2 to 1.

Sorry, another "What should I buy?" thread...

I think you're going to be disappointed with an electric folding bike. You'd be surprised at how awkward they are to carry and how much space they take up. Whatever bike you get, you can make it take up a lot less space by adding quick release levers to the stem clamp and folding pedals. That...

e-bike DIY: "Conhis" motor kits from China

That's a very simple common type of controller for a sensored brushless motor. You have a choice now. The cheapest equivalent is about £15, but controllers have moved on a lot since that one. It only has a single power level for the pedal sensor. For double the price you can get one with an LED...

    Swytch Kits

Things have been a bit quiet recently. By now some of you guys that ordered them must have them installed and been going for a while. Can anyone that has one make some comments? I see the price is now up to £749, which is a long way above the £225 kickstarter price. Did you get your money's...

    BBS02 ERROR CODE 30 - help needed

If you get a problem on the 5V rail, like water in the throttle or blown motor hall sensor in it can take out the whole 5V, which will stop the controller to LCD comms and give code 30. To confirm that, you need to measure the 5v on the throttle connector. If you have 5V, there's a fair chance...

e-bike DIY: "Conhis" motor kits from China

In principle any 36v brushless controller will work. It might be better to use the opportunity to update to a modern one with a nicer control system. Whatever you decide, we need more information to make a suitable recomendation. We need to see all the connectors with their function identified...

New to pedelecs, wish to convert push bike

The cheapest battery you can get that's adequate for your requirements would ne about £180, then you have to add the cost of the motor, etc, which will add about another £200. Some of the cheap motor kits need expensive batteries, so it's not simple. If you have an eye on a cheap kit, show us...

    Hub motor clicking noise

There's nothing you can do except take it back as there isn't anything on the outside that can do that. Is the speed display correct? The only thing I can think of is that a magnet in the speed sensor might have detached. One thing you could check. Try loosening the six screws in the disc rotor...

Battery not charging at all anymore

The charger charges all ceells equally. If one cell group won't charge, none of them will. The BMS stops the charger as soon as the first reaches 4.2V and switches off discharge as soon as the first reaches 3.0V. Your problem is that the pack is out of balance. The question is why? All you can...

    solar bus wire

I'm totally confused now. You'd rather spend £14 per meter to buy nickel strip than the £1.50 a meter that I use, but you don't mind running the risk of compromising your battery completely by using unsuitable tinned copper strip because it's cheaper. Did I misunderstand something? In case it...
