Nice replacement controller - cheap too.

Ciclotek is selling those now in one of their kits http://www.ciclotekstore.eu/b2c/productos/1/2/9822109/kit-platinium-lcd5-mini/1

Radically different motor wattage but same top speed?!?

The Bewo, from memory, has an external controller so you should be able to use a 17-18 Amp one.

    Friction Drive comes of age

He only needs a 150 - 200 W boost because his roads are flat(ish) and he is a healthy road bike rider. I was intrigued by outrunner motors to here is a good explanation: http://www.dronetrest.com/t/brushless-motors-how-they-work-and-what-the-numbers-mean/564

    Bafang brake sensor fitting

In this case a simple push button cutoff switch (paid about 2.70€ for mine) is the cheapest most elegant solution.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

OK so you don't want to pay the exit bill, fine. What will that lead to? No more health care for expats living on this side, No more benefits for expats in the EU. No more whatever else that sum was to cover. It isn't a fine, it is a sum to cover costs to the EU for a decision the UK has made...

    Even more battery news

I think the safe bit is because they haven't managed to explode one yet in the lab. Back to pouch battery form factor, I have about 20 Ah worth of those in a metallic suitcase... :D

    Friction Drive comes of age

My GSM is stealthy. My GF's neighbour noticed yesterday that it was an electric bike, he has seen me riding it since last year... In my view a CF road bike isn't "stealthy", it is always screaming "I am light and expensive, please steal me!" so electric or not doesn't matter much. Yesterday I...

    Even more battery news

From the abstract: "The result is a safe, low-cost, lithium or sodium rechargeable battery of high energy density and long cycle life." What is not to like? All the correct buzzwords are there. Missing from the abstract is the fast charging bit, I didn't create an account to access the whole...

    French State subsidises eBikes

As I posted elsewhere... 200 € bikes with a maximum of 20% 1000 € Twizy and like 6000 € cars I don't know if you can accumulate with local subsidies: Nantes 300 € for example. That would mean 500 € off your typical Bosch or Yamaha powered bike.

    Which e-bike that accelerates fast

My bike accelerates so well in assistance level 5 that sometimes I have to brake to prevent tail ending the car in front of me when the light goes green. That is up to about 20 km/h at which point the car moves out of the danger zone... :D

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

There is one of those warning radar posts, "careful you are doing xx", on my regular route. It gives a pretty accurate reading when compared to GPS speed. At that particular point I am very regular at 22 km/h, it is at the end of the steep bit of the climb.

    3 Speed Shifters

Isn't the rear derailleur different for the dualdrive? I had a quick look at this kit when I got my GSM but decided for a spider and twin chainwheel instead. "According to Sheldon Brown, "The Dual Drive internal hub is not compatible with any other shifter."

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

My controller* set to "strong assist" mode in the advanced settings does something similar. It depends on the cadence it seems. * the one in my signature

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

I hear you! I have to keep reminding myself "don't look at the fabulous scenery you stupid old fool!" Had a couple of near misses these last weeks at speeds over 35 km/h

    Friction Drive comes of age

I think it is a great unit. Good solid design. I did say "niche market" in one of my posts. My argument is against the generalist comment: "at last ALL the problems of x, y or z have been solved" without the "for those situations where it is adapted" qualifier. I would like a bracket that adapts...

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

I like 33-35 km/h. I tried 45 km/h and it is too stressful watching out for cars who think you are only doing 15 km/h... Those kind of speeds also don't do your range much good.

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

Almost everywhere in the EU it is the same speed as for cars. On the other side of the Basque Country in Irun center bikes are limited to 30 km/h just like cars and I must admit to having been a little over that limit from time to time. In S. Sebastian cycle paths have 5 and 10 km/h limits in...
