Can and should you ride an e-bike without a battery?

On Mondays ride the motor was providing no power for 32 whole minutes! :D

    Silence

The GSM is much quieter than the Mxus hub motor but so is the controller except in level 5 where it makes great clacking noises at full Amps . On the flat I can't hear the GSM at all, so much so I have to look at the LCD to see if it is providing power or not!

Add-e, Go-e or Hidden power kit

These are not good in the wet and I doubt their capacity to climb hills (I rode a Vélosolex for many years) and they eat tyres. A small front hub motor and a tiny battery would do what you need. Maybe you should ask insat for a quote on a custom 6-8 Ah battery which you would put in a bag on...

    Why Derailleurs gears?

11:34 exists in 8 speed. Currently I am running 7 speed 11:28 and I have a 7 speed 12:32 on order at the LBS, I can live with losing 3-4 km/h downhill on this bike, it isn't a speed monster. If that doesn't work out in the mountains of Navarra I'll look at a 42 tooth chainwheel to replace the 46...

    your gainful employment ?

A dweeb in the USA who happens to be a billionaire said "people over 35 have no place behind a computer" and around about that time I stopped getting hired as an IT consultant, web programmer, front end, back end, side window, the lot... Now I have an ordinary job which earns me...

I wonder how often this happens?

I have an "offensive language" on a post and no matter how hard I twisted my nasty little mind even at the third or fourth degree I couldn't find anything offensive so I put it down to "bad aim, a man thing"... :D

Chasing elevation gain and gradient, plus general ride achievements.

Monday 320 m (1050 ft) in 6 km (3.73 miles), 710 m or so over 48 km. The descent was lovely you should try going down sometimes too Eddie :p On the way up I passed a lycra, about 40, quite attractive even in the pain of effort! It was in a section between 10 and 12%. Lycra looks much better on...

    Number Two

Big Fine Battery :) I now have a 20 Ah battery composed of two different types of Hobby King Lipo packs (same size, same cell count). The Multistars are out of stock for months now so I went for Graphene on sale. Bigger, heavier but not by much. I was really scared that I wouldn't be able to...

    Why Derailleurs gears?

I have a cassette in a normal wheel now with the GSM but I also have a Mxus with freewheel. Today I found the limit of the GSM, +15% road and 46:28 gearing, I stopped in time for the motor... I'll have to go back and see if I can climb it with 46:32 when I get my new cassette.

Hobby king multi star on offer

Yes I know cwah you already said that in another thread. I have a 20 Ah 37 V pack that cost me 250€ (with wires and lipo alarms). If I wanted a 17 Ah 36 V 18650 battery that had 0.6 V sag (yes it is important where I live) and no spot welder what would it would cost me? I could have bought a...

Hobby king multi star on offer

about .6 V sag. Today's stats: 48 km in 1:48 (26.6 km/h average) Start voltage 41 V, end voltage 38.09 V 615.7 Watts peak (I like!) 15.14 Amps peak 325.9 Wh 8.364 Ah So I used about half the battery in a 48 km ride that included a ramp at 15%. The GSM couldn't handle that with the 46:28...

Voltage drop down converter to 12v on Bike battery pack

4S lipo would be my choice, the motor should be able to handle 15 V. Damn d8veh beat me to it!

    BBS02 on a cargo bike.

If it is marked 250 W on the motor and the motor stops assistance at 25 km/h it is legal. My motor peaks at 576 W with the controller I am using at the moment but it stops providing power at 25 km/h. It does get to 25 km/h really quickly, about as fast as any car around here which is probably...

    BBS02 on a cargo bike.

As long as the batteries are identical cell count and charged to the same voltage you will be OK. Otherwise you may get a big spark...

    K LCD3 Controller stuck!

If you turn the battery off then back on you go to the first screen? If not you have done something horribly wrong and may have ruined the LCD. If you regain control go to C10 and choose yes then validate. You should be able then to start over from the beginning.

    Why Derailleurs gears?

Thanks so much for that d8veh! How come that doesn't come up in a search for "11-34 7 speed cassette" beats me. Been searching with that term since last year... I see it is like my 14-34 mega range with a big jump to last cog, shame. I looked at build your own cassettes then ran out to buy a...

    K LCD3 Controller stuck!

One of the advanced config options is wrong. Mine did that when I set up the new controller. Factory reset then input correct values all around.
