Hello everyone! Please read about my vintage conversion and help me decide!

My vote is wicker basket with controller and battery. I don't like delta trikes and don't much like front hub motors but here is a marriage born in heaven! Just keep things nice and slow, especially in the corners and keep the period look change as little as possible.

    One bike, for one day.

KTM MACINA EGINITION But no mud OK! And nothing too steep or scary. And where would I put my pannier bag?... Just to see how those who use their bike as a toy live, but just for one day and no mud

    Number Two

Mounting the motor All the bits are together at last, the LBS supplied the adaptors for the 7 speed cassette (0 €!) Why build a new bike? Here you can see the size difference. Fitting problems: the anti-movement bracket won't fit because of the centre stand mounting plate... So I...

    Batteries

12.8 Ah here (16 Ah of Lipo) that gives me about 70 km range: 15 to the station, 40 km return and a bit of safety margin to prevent range anxiety. I think that if I had the money I would have a 17 Ah HL Li-Ion battery and nothing less. Using it a 1C would mean less sag on our steep hills.

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

I don't tamper with my fully tamperable one. It is set to 26 km/h max assist which is within the 5% tolerance but definitely not legal. My argument is that it is the only setting I found that permits the motor to gradually provide less power and cut out at 25 km/h. We shall see what that setting...

Commute Road Bike Build front/rear hub or mid-drive?

No the geared rear hub has a long and happy future. It will require torque arms on an aluminium frame and some dropouts are "difficult" for bog standard torque arms. You also have to enlarge the dropout to fit the hub motor axle which is bigger. Torque arms make changing a flat a bit more...

How's the Bank Holiday weather where you live.

I just rode home for the first time ever when it was bucketing it down! Water was being slung forward off the front tyre and I went through one puddle that was pedal deep... Is this the wrong thread? Sounds more like "how do you wash your bike?"... Yes I know, pressure washers are not good...

    Number Two

A tale of two wheels My 28" rear wheel fought its way through French transporter strike hell and finally arrived three days late. The wheel I picked up in Decathlon which was too narrow was a beautiful Italian made (apparently welded) twin wall rim very sloppily laced onto a no name hub. My...

Commute Road Bike Build front/rear hub or mid-drive?

My vote would be mid-drive (Bafang, GSM,...) and Alfine. If you want a belt drive you need a special frame Bottle battery with controller in the base 1. Alfine has the gear shifter you need for drop bars, and any mid drive is good for 33 km/h you can play with chainring size and sprocket size...

How's the Bank Holiday weather where you live.

Sometimes you go too far Eddie... <saliva smiley goes here> Weather (not a holiday here) is typical Basque country - torrential downpour followed by hot and sunny. Right now very cool and a bit windy. This week we had some of the best lightning storms I have seen in a long while.

    Bosch intuvia inaccurate speedometer

You got the required manual of course, can't be an EN 15194 approved bike without one, and "the manual is online" is still not legal... 6 Instruction for use In addition to the instructions required by the bicycles standard EN 14764, each EPAC shall be provided with a set of...

Looking for a good quality bike

I would say they use 50 cells instead of 40 then.

Looking for a good quality bike

The weight difference shown between the batteries = 100 grams or 2.5 grams per cell. The Samsung 26F is 44 grams The 30Q is 48 grams

Looking for a good quality bike

Different cell types = different capacity for the same number of cells (and different price) Say the cells have a 5 gram difference in weight = 200 grams more on the battery

Test ride on a kalkhoff agattu 8 speed

The only Kalhoff that attracts my eye is Bosch powered. Multiple engine failures have me intrigued, the finger would point at a rider problem - cadence too low? But I think that plastic gears have to be done right in prevision for all types of rider and in this case the guys behind the CAD-CAM...

What lock do i need for this frame?

The Axa comes with two metal straps that go around the seat stays. I am using that setup at the moment but I don't recommend it, it can be cut off really easily with a small file by those who know how. I have the chain and always attach the bike to something, at the moment it is attached to the...
