To build or not to build

that's what sjpt first suggested, he's got 2 agrees for it, I offered a +1 and expanded on the same idea. sjpt's post:

To build or not to build

yes, I have a tendency to confuse, sorry about that. I think we can agree that if the problem is caused by the user, then there is no confusion as to who should pick up the tab. If it's a manufacturing fault, then whoever supplies the part will have to sort it. If you, as a fitter, restrict...

Woman fighting for life after 'e-bike' hit-and-run in east London

I was surprised that the cyclist did not ride closer to the kerb. perhaps she thought that the cyclist would notice her and swerve behind her.

To build or not to build

most self builders are capable of diagnosing the problem themselves and only rely on suppliers for replacement parts. If I were to provide someone with a fitting service, I would restrict the range of kits to the most sensible ones, and legal kits to minimise issues like you mentioned. Fitting...

    practical step-through

that high figure 80NM comes from the Bafang website. They have removed previous listings for G060500DC and G060350DC, their contents were the same as in this URL: https://www.bafang-e.com/en/components/component/motor/rm-g060750dc.html

To build or not to build

support and warranty are provided by the suppliers of the kit and it does not take a whole day to fit a kit. How long does it take you to fit a motor wheel or a BBS01 motor?

To build or not to build

+1 from me too. There are lots of brand new good bikes at very reasonable price, some are dead easy to work on like Specialized, Trek, Giant and Halfords bikes. Make £100 a day converting them to electric.

    Raleigh Motus help please

the Nexus-8 is more practical than the Deore 10. This said, the law of diminishing returns applies. There is little difference component wise between the models you are looking at, same capabilities in hill climbing and range.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I wonder about that too. One thing for certain, the rate of increase in obesity, an indicator of the way we live and work, is fast increasing. I watched 'Trust me, I'm a doctor' last night, they have an interesting chart about obesity in 11 years olds. The rate used to be around 8%-10% until the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Brexit economists like Minford don't see manufacturing as important, so they don't need to consider dumping.

signs of our time, OG. the whole generation of my children, born in the 80s, the decade when MT dismantled old industries for commerce, management and banking, do all their work entirely with their keyboards and mobile phones. They understand electricity alright but would not replace a broken...

    Error 30

there are 3 components capable of producing error 30, communication error: the controller, the LCD and the cable connecting the LCD to the controller. All 3 can cause intermittent errors. The only quick way to diagnose is by swapping out. If you can bring your bike to Southend, I can check it...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The EU is going to pick up the tab for border control and deal with repatriation of African migrants. 5* will strengthen their position while taking EU's money.

Keen cyclist looking for a shower-free commute

beside the quality of the normal bike, hub motors are cheaper to buy and run, less demanding on maintenance and being placed higher than crank drive motors, less exposed to rain water. Hub motors do not stress the chain and gears. Those are important considerations for a cheap and reliable...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think it's the EU's fault, after all, Maastricht treaty is quite clear about where the EU is heading, it's our successive PMs who have hidden/downplayed that fact to a lot of voters, preferring the immediate increase in labour mobility and lower interest rates,

    Brexit, for once some facts.

the irony is, fast forward a generation, 25-30 years into the future, a super power EU27 may be the only peaceful / peace loving and law abiding super power on earth. The UK would have become a much less important country, falling behind India, Canada, Russia and Brasil.

Heavy Hybrid under cycle to work scheme?

almost all the bike shops will let you top up the £1,000 voucher for the bike you want. Typically, the scheme provider takes 10% commission, some shops have enough profit margin to take the 10% hit, others may let you buy the equivalent of £900 if it were paid in cash.

Want to fit old hub motor to rear of mountain bike

it's not possible. There is no way to add a freewheel.to a front motor. even if you can design and fabricate a new motor cover to take a freewheel, the motor axle may not be long enough. The front motor is designed to fit 100mm dropout, rear motors for MTBs 135mm dropout.
