Hello from South Cambs - New to e-bikes

BBS01 is tiring and saps strength unassisted. Probably best used in low assist even on level terrain but you won't know this till you have ridden the conversion. Lifepo4 is a bit old hat now we have lithium ion, which is somewhat lighter then lifepo4. Though you can look at Eclipse bikes for...

Oh dear, another quandary on which kit??

With hub motors you need to select highest assist for hills and then they romp up them easier, much better if you use 48v and 17/20a controllers then they have plenty of power.

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

When I got my kit they only listed 36v, but now they list a 48v 350w rear kit so no need to mess about with another controller. The 17a KT will give good poke and if you wanted more amps you could carry out a small shunt mod with a little solder. If you wanted to use 36v hub with 48v controller...

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

I run the dual voltage with 36v on outward journey and then 48v on the home bound journey, controller distinguishes the difference effortlessly.

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

Yes hence it is for 48v, you could and would also be ok with 14s.

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

It is a Yose kit. The controller is KT 15a 36v, if you run it at 48v you will smoke it as the main inrush cap is only 50v rating. You have to ditch the controller and get a KT dual voltage model, the hub is excellent at 48v in pas 5 at 20a, the other levels are also good and pas1 19/21mph is...

    Yosepower hub kits.

Only problem with Yose hub you have to buy the whole kit where as Q128c you don't. Q128C is about £130 delivered + duty, YOSE kit is about £180 though you can sell the controller and lcd3 and pas etc to bring costs down. LCD, controller etc should sell quite easily for/as 36v replacement items...

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

    52v is 4 more cells are needed over 48v, though would/should fit in same case. Advantages for using higher voltage using same 3450 GA cells. 36v 5p 10s = 50 cells. 17.25ah / 621wh. 48v 4p 13s = 52 cells. 13.8ah / 662wh, +6.5%. 52v 4p 14s = 56 cells. 13.8ah / 717wh. +15.5%.

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

Wh is more important then ah. A case that holds 50 cells for 36v will hold 52 for 48v. As long as the cells are exactly the same 48v will have more Wh/range then the 36v one even though the 36v one has a fifth more ah.

    36v 500w vs 52v 1500w

In use the you will see battery sag so it will dip lower then 47.6 underload once voltage has decreased but once load is reduced it will bounce back, I use rest V's. Once it sags below reduce load applied and use lower assist to mollycoddle the cells instead of stressing them. For 48v I use to...
