Gear shift sensor is useful but most people don't bother with a gear shift sensor, you quickly get used to slow down your cadence, shift and pick up again. With gear shift sensor, you don't have to slow down your cadence.

Returning my ebike to Decathlon tonight and here's why

it's a fairly common occurrence on rear hub motor wheels. that's one point where crank drive bikes score well. Most CD bikes have quick no tool releases, no catching with the rear mech hanger, the wheels are light and the rims are strong. For £1,000 budget, the Woosh Santana CD and Krieger...

hub motor running but no wheel motion on FreeGo Hawk Electric Bikes

I asked him to spin his wheel in reverse to rule out if the clutch is stuck. This is what he said: It seems that the clutch can be engaged, leaving the possibility that the motor spins in reverse.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Members of TM's cabinet are all freelancers now, it seems that TM is going to accept defeat on the subject of CU. Jeremy Hunt fancies his chance to throw his hat in the ring so to speak if and when that happens, counting on JRM's European Reform Group to topple her.

    Are throttles legal or not?

the full throttle is tolerated on all e-bikes as long as the rest of the e-bike is conform to EN15194. There is a recent thread on it: http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/newbie-advice-required-on-conversion-legals-please.30773/ Here is the reply from the DfT that was posted in the forum 3...

    Fat bikes on beach

sand is not a big problem, most of it is stopped by a bit of grease on the motor's axle or the rubber seals on the ballbearings. The damage is done by the electrolytic effect of salt in water. It eats away at the steel on the rotor and the alu on the shell at the rate of knots and continues for...

How do I calculate Watts used per mile

that's correct. For the same difference (start Volts - end Volts), you go farther, more miles, at the same speed with a 48V battery than a 36V battery or a 24V battery, more miles with a larger capacity versus a smaller capacity, more miles when the battery is fully charged than when it's depleted.

dry sand is not much of a problem. this is my experience with salty water: salt attacks both steel and aluminium. Just remember that.

How do I calculate Watts used per mile

you can use the middlepoint of the voltage readings to calculate WH used per mile. Measure the voltage at the start and when you arrive at destination (you have to rest the battery for a minute or more for accurate assessment). Let's say you have a 36V 15AH battery and ride 10 miles. Say you...

hub motor running but no wheel motion on FreeGo Hawk Electric Bikes

hi kulup, there are two possibilities: a) the clutch has failed or b) one of the Hall sensors stops working causing the motor to spin in reverse, thus not engaging the wheel. You need to eliminate a) first. Lift up the motor wheel, spin it in reverse to engage the clutch. If you feel the...
