    Update on N.I. e-bike regs.

Essentially no, the law in Malta is because they failed to comply with a mandatory EU order so it can be ignored for your purpose. All other EU countries treat pedelecs as bicycles. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It never reached the public. Here's an extract I found: "When the Hillman Imp was first conceived under the guidance of B.B. Winter, then Technical Director of Rootes, it was towards the end of the post-war economic squeeze in the U.K. and Europe. The idea was a really cheap car for four...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes, it used a newer single cam engine. Yes very familiar with it in all it's forms, far more than most since I used to used a Coventry Climax firepump trailer when on fire duties in the army. That was its original 750cc form, Hillman modding to 875 to outdo the Mini engine size. It was far...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Understood Steed. I think there's been the odd Impulse 1 failure, but that's true of all these bike motors, including Panasonic and Bosch, anything can fail occasionally. It seemed to be the more powerful Impulse 2 that really introduced the problems. .

After that GM engine had been used in the cars I quoted. Agreed that in the form you knew it was very flawed and I didn't dispute that. But the original design wasn't flawed, having no rear weight and handling problems with its light twin cylinder engine in the rear of a lighter car. That...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not true again. The Standard Vanguard wet liner engine used in those, some Triumphs and the Ferguson tractor was an all new up to the minute design, as was the Imp twin cylinder engine I mentioned. Bringing in different factors like trade relations and management failures as I said. And...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Please Zlatan, don't try to teach granny to suck eggs especially when you don't know the facts. The engine designed for the Imp was entirely new, a twin cylinder unit in a less well equipped car intended to outcompete the Citroen 2cv and Fiat 500. But the useless Rootes group management got...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's simply not true again, BL management had enough money but persisted on wasting it with design, make and model duplications. All they needed was the ability to know what was good for production and marketing and what wasn't, but they always lacked that. As for engines, with imagination...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The first hand opinion of someone there at the time and in the business. The rest you post supports what I posted, the management chose to continue with those old designs. There was retooling investment, too often spent to produce old or unsuitable designs. They actually had some better...

Vladimir Putin seems to manage it, he deducts 50% of all wealth from those willing to agree, 100% from those unwilling. People find him very persuasive. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's a completely false argument. The great decline was entirely due to the attitudes of British management. We had the facilities, the factories were retooled after the wartime production ceased, but the management still thought doing what grand dad did was good enough and returned to what...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

That should be possible, but probably means separation of this and low cost travel into separate planes, rather than just turn left or right on entry. In turn that could mean preferential treatment for takeoff slots etc. Should upset a few! Can't see Michael O'Leary being interested in...

    Wave goodbye part two.

Eddie, there can never have been a more honest sales pitch, warts and all. But I doubt there's anything for a prospective buyer to fear, we all know how well you maintain your bikes. .

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Not relevant though, we know the Impulse 1 has a good record, it's the Impulse 2 that is the subject and the one d8veh refers to. Here's the title of this thread: Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The same would have been said of Clement Attlee's plans, and he certainly wasn't elected on the strength of them. He only won through the public's anger giving the Tories a kicking. But Clement and his far left team didn't bankrupt the country, they belatedly turned it into one fit for the...

Surely at least as well as Theresa May and her present company, and might well do better. It's not a very high benchmark. .
