    Brexit, for once some facts.

Evan Davis suggested a national government with a soft brexit PM (Amber Rudd) until phase 2 negotiation is completed (October) then new GE. https://twitter.com/EvanHD/status/968832070314352640 Is it just possible we would arrive at a soft Brexit national government? Labour, LDs, SNP etc plus...

there is a clear benefit to move the pollution relating to power generation and burning fossil fuels away from the high density urban areas.

How was your commute this morning?

not much ice. I took a few minutes to get used to coming off the slush on gritted roads to (climb onto) snow. Good fun though when you judge the change in resistance (and the angle) just right, it's kind of a cheap winter sport really. If I ever go on skiing holiday again, I'd take a fat bike...

How was your commute this morning?

More snow, more wind... Just back from a ride along the sea front. The snow is much thicker today, 8-10mph average on roads, assist level 2-3. I found it's easier to control the climb with the throttle, sort of keeping attention on the steering and control the assist with the throttle (the...

How was your commute this morning?

we have about 4" of fresh snow overnight in Southend. I am using the Rio FB at the moment. Personally, I prefer 3" tyres to the 4" (on the Bafang MaxDrive) and found the 3" tyres are adequate to ride in snow.

that may be difficult. She wants a free trade deal, that implies some form of customs union and same standards - otherwise, goods will have to be inspected at the borders, in both directions (for VAT and duty paid, phytosanitary certifcates, certificates of conformity, certificate of origins...

We're the UK, we don't even trust our own experts and please, don't tell us what we can do or can't. I watched the BBC reporter asking passers-by in Coventry after JC's speech for what they think of his speech. May be the reporter sought them out, they could not understand why we have not yet...

How was your commute this morning?

it's been snowing more or less non stop all morning, dry, light snow. There was a bit of traffic earlier but not many cars now. Just as many bikes as cars. this kind of snow makes me miss skiing holidays. The last time I went must be more than 15 years ago.

How was your commute this morning?

Southend got about 4" of fresh snow. Must say that I have been waiting for snow for some time, just the right excuse to take the fat bikes out for a test run. I didn't dare riding as fast as I would have done on a normal day but I could still over take the cars in town. Tony

the arithmetic is awkward for both Labour and the Conservatives. Most tory party members are brexiters while their MPs and non-member supporters are more remainers than brexiters, Most labour members and MPs are remainers but a lot if not the majority of non-member labour voters are brexiters...

I think the NI border issue is the least difficult problem with brexit. Whichever way you look at it, there will be likely a deal at the end of the transition period. The least would involve tariff free on a wide range of goods, most likely to include agri-foods.

    Rear Hub power lead repair

d8veh is right. It's a fiddly repair but if the cable is damaged at the elbow, there isn't an alternative. The spindle is in two sections. The cable side is fairly easily accessible. You remove the cover, unscrew the bolts around the old spindle, de-solder all the wires and solder in the new...
