I do of course have a political opinion, I post regularly on the brexit thread. I am a centrist and in this tragedy, we all owe to the victim to do something to ensure that this cannot happen again, not in the 21st century. Jumping to conclusions is not the right thing.

croxden, it takes a lot longer to set fire to the cladding than to the foam. Even if the core of the cladding were incombustible instead of just fire retardant (their PE core is treated with FR), the foam would still burn under the circumstance.

may I add that the cladding may have not been the cause of deaths, the amount of PE core seems to me insufficient, and the PIR (polyisocyanurate foam) may be. often patience is really a virtue.

@Georgew Philip Hammond said this morning that flammable claddings that are banned in the USA and many EU countries are also banned in the UK. As for Mr Kebede, he's said nothing to the press and the police also said nothing on the cause of the fire. I try my best to stay factual.

Actually, it was hearsay. It certainly not words from the owner of the fridge. What caused the fridge to explode? was it a home made bomb? Was it started on the fourth floor or second floor? We still don't know. How did the fire get from the fridge (if it is confirmed) to the cladding?

Help me find my right mechanical partner please ;)

e-bikes used for commuting are expected to be ridden at much higher speed than bikes used for camping/caravanning and to hit many potholes at high speed. You will generally need a good suspension fork, rustproof chain, 45T front /11T rear for speed, a good motor capable of 500W-600W output to...

you sure can maintain a good bike to last much more than 37k miles but your motor will need servicing before that. Also your battery will lose about 25% capacity after 800 charge, that's roughly 3 years. Do keep it in mind. I also think you need to start with a bike with good mechanical...

you want to do 150 miles a week, that's 7,500 miles a year and you want to amortize your bike over 5 years? that's 37,500 miles. You need something a lot better than an e-bike.

there is also an issue with the planning department. Such work needed to pass building inspection. The timber battens would not have passed building regs on a high rise building. did the architects apply for planning consent?

it seems that the GAG wasn't aware of the danger of the new cladding. With hindsight, those panels, the timber battens etc should have never been used and the sprinklers installed, but those are issues for the architects supervising the project, not TM or the conservative party.

being informed usually involves self doubt and systematic scepticism while politicising presumes a number of precepts. Until the inquest(s) are held, we don't even know how the fire was started leave alone circumstances leading to so many deaths.

there is really no need to be patronizing in this day and age of the internet. most of the known facts are summarized in the wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenfell_Tower_fire#Grenfell_Tower Are you assuming that I post before googling?

You seem to know what has happened and how it happened and who is to blame. there are about 4,000 high rise buildings being used for housing in and around London alone. If you were the housing minister or the head of H&S, would you guarantee that none will ever burn on your watch?

    PAS Sensor disc problem

glue will crack over time. Cableties are more reliable, you only need one so you have redundancy, you can use use 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 cableties to tie the disc to the chainring. Plus, you can grease the sensor head to stop it heating up if it comes into contact with the PAS disc.

    PAS Sensor disc problem

to fit on the drive side, you have to remove the magnet disc's plastic fins so that the hole in the middle is enlarged and the two halves can fit around the bottom bracket cup. If you fit the PAS disc on the non drive side, the disc risks being kicked by your left shoe.

Hi James, You can also attach the magnet disc to the smallest chainring like this: http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cant-decide-what-kit-to-buy.27858/page-3#post-379350
