We can all see the burnt cladding, so there is little doubt how the fire spreaded. A sprinkler system would have saved lives but whose fault is this for not having one installed? the architects? the H&S regulations? or TM? As far as looking for a political dimension in this tragedy, I much...

    I picked the wrong info from the Bafang website. Sorry about that. It should have been 290 RPM 24.5mph = 302 RPM. (24.5 * 1609 / (60 * 2.17) )

I hope by this winter people will realize how good the Rio FB is in all weather commuting. It's not just powerful, it's sure-footed and brakes very well.

205 RPM. The Rio FB has 3" wheels (ETRTO 75-559), equivalent to 27.5 x 2.25 It is a bit of a beast, max torque: 75-80NM, it'll climb more or less anything. edit: Not 205 RPM, 290 RPM is the correct info.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

An article in the telegraph quoted 'Mr Fox has targeted a near-doubling of exports to £1trn a year by 2020'. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/connect/small-business/international-trade/is-the-uk-a-fat-and-lazy-trading-nation/ The only thing we have over the EU is their trade surplus, they sell to...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think recalling A50 is going to achieve majority support in parliament or in the electorate. It seems obvious now that a hard brexit is costly in the next 10-15 years. The question is, can the UK afford the cost of hard brexit? I guess the answer is no because of our already very high...

oldtom, this thread should be about the catastrophic failure of a solution to building insulation. Politicising it is simply wrong. wrong place, wrong time.

Scott, I think Volusia may have put his finger on it. That would explain the difference between your bike and the demo one.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I watched BBC's 'Planet oil' on iplayer this morning. This reminds me of some of the similarities with brexit in British politics, have cake and eat it. We tried it with Saudi Arabia, Iran, the Gulf States etc. This time, there is no North Sea oil to pay for a hard brexit. it's not so much that...

News: Value increase in cycle imports attributed to e-bikes, say BA

from your link. http://www.bike-eu.com/sales-trends/nieuws/2017/3/unexpected-decline-in-uk-bicycle-imports-10129231 I have just signed up with uktradeinfo.com (run by HMRC) to get some stats but have not got time to do any digging yet.

you don't need any special tool to remove a GXP bottom bracket. You can unscrew the external ball bearings by hand.

News: Value increase in cycle imports attributed to e-bikes, say BA

so as an estimate, 7% of £383 mil = £27 mil. import value for e-bikes. imports from outside the EU: 87% in units imports from inside the EU: 13% in units is there a way of looking up import statistics for single product code? My rough estimate: about 55,000 units at £500 per unit.

News: Value increase in cycle imports attributed to e-bikes, say BA

7% in value, would that be less than 3% in units? As the average e-bike costs more than double a normal bike, I am not surprised at the slow progress in the uptake of e-bikes in the UK.
