    Is the SWX02 quiet?

I have always backed up my reasoning with evidence from others. You know as well as I do, fried Hall sensors are the major cause for failing motors. There must be a hundred posts here and on ES about dead sensors. You also know that the issue of glue used to bond the magnets on rotors has been...

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

you wrote this 7 years ago: Here is one from ES: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=340#p18936 Lots more - search for 'unstuck magnets', if you bother to look.

Which scenario drains the most battery?

it's kind of ironic that the throttle (or 'magic button') would be more useful on a torque sensor bike to give yourself an extra push and yet only available on rotational sensor bikes where you only have to wait a little for the power to ramp up.

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

do you have access to these motors? Ask yourself why, despite being cheaper to buy, nobody uses the Q128H in their mass production bikes? and why the SWX02 is widely used?

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

higher RPM: 1) less torque: agreed. But less torque does not reduce the risk of frying the Hall sensors or reduce the copper temperature while the risk of detached magnets (when riding over potholes) increases with RPM. 2) higher RPM increases the risk of failure of the gearbox. If the gearbox...

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

Motors often fail because: 1. hall sensors die 2. magnets get detached from rotor 3. overheating causing insulation to melt those reasons are the same with any e-bike motors, including direct drive and crank drive motors. The difference in probabilities come from the design of the motors...

Riese & Muller Tinker - quality of front suspension?

I wonder why R&M didn't want to use an air fork on this £3+k bike.

Electric bike to assist with fatigue, muscle and joint problems

Hello KYORKS, I would suggest you look at the Woosh Big Bear LS. It has a strong motor and a throttle. It also comes with a 15AH battery, enough for about 40 miles on throttle alone. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?bigbear-ls

in case anyone wonders what the fuss is about, they are the two M3 bolts that hold the battery cradle to the frame. We now put blue loctite on the bolts and add anti slip washers.

Review Woosh Rio MTB Review/Initial Impressions

Most bike components are made in China, including those going into your bikes. There are mistakes in all assembly jobs, what makes the difference is that there are fewer mistakes in big brand bikes because the designs are carefully checked many times before and during production so the products...

that is prejudice. You should take a closer look at the Rio. The two M3 screws that are on the battery cradle don't have anti slip washers. They are made of stainless steel though, not cheese. It's easy enough to rectify when someone gives you the feedback.

10% or less difference for DD motors, assuming that somehow you can find one with sweetzone as low as 15mph. Most DD motors have their sweetzone around 25mph and efficiency at around 70% for 15mph. Assuming 50% user input, battery consumption is around 7WH/mile for both motors.

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

beside wear and tear, one important consideration is the likelihood of failures. Motors often fail because: 1. hall sensors die 2. magnets get detached from rotor 3. overheating causing insulation to melt When you use a high reduction ratio motor, you are likely to need hall sensors. The...

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

sorry TG, I should have said one of my workshop bikes. I still have it. If I have some free time next week, I'll make a video to show the difference between the SWX02 and Q128H.

    Is the SWX02 quiet?

there is always a cost benefit trade-off. The Q128H (I have it on one of my bikes) has a higher reduction ratio than the SWX02 and is marginally quieter. However, because the rotor spins nearly twice as fast, the wear and tear on the gearbox is also higher. The Q128H is actually cheaper to buy...
