‘Quantum Leap’ in Battery Innovations Presented at Eurobike

I like the BMZ maths: Existing batteries 3 years life. New battery increases capacity by 60%. Their claim of a 12 year life being due to the reduction in charges is an increase of 300%. .

Registering an e-bike as an e-moped w the DVLA

That model 60 is surely the Vectrix relaunched, looks almost identical. The Vectrix was a great scooter to ride but had a few reliability problems. It's £7000 launch price didn't help either. Later the price was dropped to £6000, but the company still failed. I see no reason for it to...

Crank or Hub Motor. Which is best?

I like both and it's sometimes horses for courses, each having their own advantages and disadvantages. Today's high torque hub motors have diminished the climb advantage that some crank drives had, but certainly not completely removed that for the steepest climbs. .

    Boncho: Good/Bad?

Thanks Grey, the link colour in this forum is so weak I missed it. I'm also a cape user like d8veh and consider they've always been the best solution for cycling in rain. As he remarked this one looks a bit short, I'd have preferred more drop at front and back, but it will otherwise be very...

    2017 E-Silence EVO

And that's without even mentioning the carrier that's only supported at the rear, cantilever fashion! The trouble with style based e-bikes is the £1000 added per engineering rule broken. .

Bike Europe Whitepaper Speed e Bike Regulations 2

No, that's not the case, L1e-A (which permits 1000 watts) will not be treated as an EAPC. It's only a 250 watt pedelec that only departs from the rules in having a throttle which will still be considered an EAPC, and that ruling is only in Great Britain, not Northern Ireland or anywhere else in...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

David Cameron I'm sure. He was the one who started this mess and history will judge him accordingly. Theresa May will probably just be seen as a victim of that, landed with the completely impossible job of putting things right. .

    IP for Bikes?

Here's a practical example. Cytronex have for years sold various makes and primarily Cannondale bikes with their Tongxin Nano motor based kit. They do use the Cannondale name but don't alter the bikes other than the kit fitting. This web page shows how. .

First hand experiences of ebikes in subzero temperatures?

Thanks Sherman. So yours are the usual EU membership laws for both pedelecs (250watts no throttles) and the L1e-A 1000 watt class. The UK and I believe some other EU countries require a category Q driving licence as well as insurance for the 1000 watt L1e-A "motorised bicycle" class, but...

First hand experiences of ebikes in subzero temperatures?

Member Tinu1234 in Finland previously confirmed to me that it's definitely only 250 watts and 25 kph. That's also EU law where throttles are not permitted, hopefully Sherman will enlighten on that point for Finland. .
