    Brexit, for once some facts.

It may not stop going down until it reaches parity with the euro. At least if that happens we could scrap Brexit and join the eurozone. :) .

    Why Derailleurs gears?

Except their makers defeat that with wheel rotation magnetic sensors, or like the Impulse 2 units, having them terminally fail after a certain number of times exceeding 17mph. .

Opinions on reliability of Impulse 2 motor and Nexus gears

I'm not surprised. Daum, who designed the Impulse motor and make it for Kalkhoff really need to get a grip on this, continuously replacing under warranty isn't good enough. They need to redesign the unit, including making the failing nylon gear stronger, and then replace warranty failures with...

    Why Derailleurs gears?

The nearest we've ever got to that sort of concept is the BionX witn integrated SRAM 3 speed hub gear. But the motor is direct drive and doesn't use the gears so the only gain is neatness. It isn't practical to have a hub motor driving through very many gears, since that would give a speed...

Opinions on reliability of Impulse 2 motor and Nexus gears

The Impulse 2 has been so troublesome that the makers now renew the two year warranty each time a motor fails and has to be changed. However, we don't know how long that will last and who wants the hassle of a failing motor anyway? Currently the motor has been changed to the Evo, but being new...

Could the forum width be increased?

Widen the forum? No, I think the obesity epidemic has gone far enough. .

    Why Derailleurs gears?

It resulted from the fact that cycling almost completely died out in Britain by the late 1970s, only the club sporting types left who naturally used derailleurs for their greater efficiency. Then the invention of the mountain bike in 1979 kicked cycling back into life, but still in a sporting...

Not on mine, there's blank space above Forum software by XenForo. :( .

Could the forum width be increased?

I can't read any of those files, but the existing forum I find fine. I'd also recommend Ctrl ++ as many times as necessary if you find difficulty. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I agree. To date in France, Belgium, Germany, Norway and the UK, it's been the resident populations carrying out most of the terrorist attacks. I think ISIS and Al Qaeda are quite content to motivate them through the various media and know they don't need to infiltrate in addition. .

    Speed matters

I've said this in here many times. If our commuting cyclists would only relax a bit and ride at below 15 mph instead of putting in so much effort to ride at 20 mph plus, the incidence and ill effects of their accidents would be greatly reduced. Dutch cyclists in The Netherlands sit upright and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Actually the Trump family name was adopted, it was originally Drumpf which they didn't like. So they went forwards through the alphabet and after trying many alternatives finally reached "T" and settled on Trump. All that wasted effort! They should just have gone backwards through the...

I think the police and media need to take an electric bike recognition course :)

The usual comment these days is: "We have issued some appropriate advice". .

Good idea, issue myself a large dollop of quantitative easing, hire a dodgy pilot and disappear! :) You up for the job Tillson? ;) .

And maybe even a hearing test if they thought that was an electric bike! .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't think the BoE can help, pumping in money won't impress. The world is making the sensible judgement that Brexit means an inevitable continuous decline for a long period at least. The only chance of getting any stability is the government making a positive statement on what we are doing...

Panasonic motor short circuit - Kalkhoff Agattu

That looks quite normal Oliver, a litle more metal exposure than most but that surface layer of black plastic over the metal poles is always wafer thin and variable. I daresay the design doesn't include any plastic over them but there's inevitably some seepage in the mould and it can't affect...

    Two wheel drive electric bike

Fortunately only 2 of the 28 EU countries have signed up to EN15194. The rest can depend on the EU type approval of two and three wheeled vehicles in 168/2013 which doesn't specify the number of motors, only the 250 watt limit. .
