And the local guys still lose out. Up to 1993, the EEC then functioned quite well. I am not unhappy at all if we could wind the clock back to then.

there is nothing wrong with simple cross-border trading. The rules of competition force local authorities to open up their bidding process to all of the EU. Before that, local authorities advertised locally and contact only people on their supplier lists. You know as well as I do how local...

You have to ask? Do I ever ask for the names of your dealers or people you do business with or compete against in the confines of a charging post?

There are similarities. Globalization hurts small businesses. That's a fact. EU rules favour globalists. If you ask people to vote in a referendum, no wonder people vote against globalization.

KTM, please stop repeating your demand for names. You either take me on trust or you don't. As I said, you may find it with a FOI request. It's public information. Follow the EU money for bikes to Southend. You may find it.

I agree. In the PC business, the biggest threat is Microsoft's licensing policy. The small guys have zero chance. If you look at the cost of a retail license of Windows for example, it's roughly 50% the cost of the whole PC. Big companies don't pay the same price at all.

I know there are always winners and losers. I also knew we only had one chance out of two or three for that particular tender. My point is the EU rules hurt small businesses. Stay with me on this. In my working time, we were on the supplier list for HMRC in Southend, I lost systematically to a...

You start sounding a little rattled. The size of the winning company does not matter, what matters here is that the EU rules hurt small businesses. That's a fact.

That is a recurring apology from remainers. If you are the victim, you'd say it's the people that make the rules that are to blame.

No, I only want to split the EU up. Just joking. The point I try to make is the rules favours large companies that operate across borders to the detriment of small local businesses. You don't have to agree. As you said, the information is public. Try to find out what happens to EU funds to...

If I had lost to another UK company, I would not have criticised the EU rules. I spent a fair bit of time over 3 months working with the people to help with specifying the bike for the project all for nothing. The fact that this guy uses somebody I know for service is small crumbs. He has...

I offered the same thing. Supply and service. The point is, the Dutch guy was a typical rep. Creamed the profit on the sale and never bothered to do anything himself. I forgot their name, that's all.

That's correct. The council got given this money by the EU.

I tried to find out how many times the word 'United Kingdom' is in the Maastrich treaty for example, 39 times because there are a lot of special arrangements. I am sure there will be a lot of special arrangements when we start negotiating with the EU.
