That's correct. I don't mind losing a supply and service contract to someone in the UK but it's sore to lose to a Dutch dealer. I think the EU rules distort the process of tendering in favour of larger outsiders.

You are correct, my mistake. Hope it will start a new trend.

Very possibly. There is nothing to stop these tactics. Look into details. What barriers can you think of? It's not like the UK is going to stop buying Irish agricultural produce after brexit.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Trade with the UK is affected by the devaluation of the Pound at the moment, Irish goods may appear temporarily expensive. I don't think brexit will hurt future trade.

You know I can't be specific about that particular tender, I think it illustrates why half of the UK are fed up with the EU creating forever more market rules.

The Iris has a direct drive motor. I'd like to see the Iris going up Park Street in Bristol.

whether the tories blame EU state aid rule or not in the case of Tata steel mill, it is naive to ignore the effect of EU state aid rule. Basically, weak businesses are left to fail. All over the EU, in the name of 'fair' competition. If you happen to work for one of those weak businesses, will...

they vote for their favorite party. They have no idea which idiots get sent to Bruxelles. The latter work for their party, not those who voted for them. The EU needs to reform on this, it should have two houses, one with direct representation and one with PR. Big businesses lobby directly just...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The point is the EU is responsible for the decline. The EU is responsible for removing protection of the local businesses, for stopping local governments to come to the rescue of those running into difficulties with their stringent rules on state aids. The EU then removes barriers to outsiders...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The decline of heavy industries happens mostly in the EU era. Hayange was an agricultural village before the De Wendels family started a steel mill there (Ignace de Wendel started 'Le Creusot'). At its peak, the mill employed about 30,000 people. The village became a town. When Fos-sur-Mer...

Most of its 700 m citizens are the JAMs. The EU may not care for the UK market but it needs money, it cannot afford to lose big contributors. Imagine for a moment that France voted for Le Pen in April. The EU would immediately need a new treaty.

the EU single market results in winners take all. The winners are the German industrialists and multinationals that will close factories in previously successful industrial countries (Germany, UK, France, Italy) and move production to China, India and Mexico. It has to change.

http://www.politico.eu/article/brexit-negotiation-issues-worrying-the-european-parliament/ You can't be more European than the French and yet, because the EU pushes for political union at such a speed and depth that more than one out of three French now disagree. Let's just wait until April...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

it can be a rerun of brexit. Le Pen has a campaign manager similar to Matthew Elliott. Their core messages are very similar. Last week, the BBC camera went to Hayange, northern France (how will blue collar France vote? Marine of course). Not many of you have witnessed the industrial decline in...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

that's the voting intention in the first round. In the second round, it looks like Le Pen v Macron. Fillon is practically out of the race. Le Pen will split the socialist and republican votes in the same way we saw in brexit. Don't forget the Russian hackers and Wikileaks. Imagine they find some...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The EU forces (not encourages but forces) all members to treat all EU citizens like their own. Ask yourself why one out of 3 French voters will vote for Marine Le Pen. Is it because her simple point about 'France for French first' rings the bell for them?

if you are a true brexiter then you expect to pay a price for independence from the ECJ and the EU parliament. The point is how much inflation would move the split from 52%-48% to 45%-55%.
