    Chargers, all the same ?

And the voltage. Yes, the BMS controls whether charging takes place as you suggested. Their job is just to supply when wanted. .

Kudos Rapide gets 108 miles out of a 10.4 Ah battery.

So 16 to 22 Wh/mile uphill, and 8 to 11 when averaged with the downhill zero use which I'd happily agree is in normal ranges. A little on the fitter rider side of the 12 Wh/mile that Kenny and I are quoting. .

    Leaving the EU

I wouldn't take too much notice of that Dundee audience, in the Scottish Independence referendum Dundee voted very strongly for independence, 57% to 43 %, a far bigger margin than the country as a whole. And in the General Election, the Dundee constituencies had a clean sweep of SNP wins with...

    Leaving the EU

I'm pleased he's chosen the out camp, since I think in the end we'll vote to stay in. And Boris Johnson will have chosen the losing side, not a good place to get promotion from. The political judgements of others are invariably harsh. .

Go Faster Dongles! Here's another to consider

Thanks Artstu, I'm not familiar with these units, being used to the more simple single wheel speed sensor of Panasonic and Impulse units. In those it's the wheel rotation sensor that's changed to the crank, hence my query about the Bosch methods. .

Go Faster Dongles! Here's another to consider

It must have an internal crank sensor then, the software not allowing the wheel and crank sensors to be identical, throwing up an error. Worldclassaccident's unit must either be without the internal sensor or it's (fortunately) faulty. P.S. Does it have a separate speedo sensor on the wheel? .

Go Faster Dongles! Here's another to consider

But if the wheel sensor is moved to the crank area, hasn't the Bosch then just got only the one feedback from the crank and no way to sense wheel speed? .

    Leaving the EU

Indeed, the art, science and language of politics: "That is not my recollection" means "You are a liar". "You may have been misled" means, "You're wrong". And the misuse of good manners and the third party: "The honorable member may have been misled". .

    Leaving the EU

I agree, but doubt there will be enough agreement to have anyone clearly leading the out campaign, not in time anyway. So in the end we are likely to get what we have in so many elections, the irony of a few undecideds deciding the outcome. .

    Chargers, all the same ?

Most e-bike lithium chargers tend to be 2 amp rated, but a few are faster chargers at 4 amps rating. Otherwise they do the same job and it's only the connectors that need changing. The most common brand over the years has been HighPower of China, branded HP. .

    Leaving the EU

I'm surprised that the creation of the word Brexit hasn't had a more favourable effect for those wanting out, given the importance of having such a title for the public to focus on. I thought it would be far more effective, given no equivalent for the other side. Remain just doesn't have the...

Yes, it was the agents, Powerpedals, quoting that figure. Seems the Tonaro torque is very similar to the Bosch and Yamaha units. .

    Bultaco Brinco

It's said that the Bosch torque figure is at the chainwheel output, which is geared well down from the motor rpm. It's probably the same for the Yamaha and most other crank units. The only one I've seen quoting differently is Tonaro, quoting 125 Nm for their crank unit bikes, that's measured...

Go Faster Dongles! Here's another to consider

Absolutely, and I'm not disagreeing. I just corrected that minor point on speed. There's virtually no off-road now anyway, anywhere that the public have access to is not permitted for illegal pedelecs etc. So with right to roam law, "off-road" is almost reduced to ones own garden for most...

There's an amusing aside to this that I thought I'd share. Many years ago soon after I moved into my present property and before I'd added extra security, my TV broke down one Thursday. The line output transformer had failed and being an old set wasn't worth repairing, so I'd decide to go out...
