    Hire in London - Failure?

And the London Hire Bike scheme, which despite a big business subsidy, costs a small fortune in taxpayer subsidies each year. Just like the Paris Velib hire bike scheme which collapsed within two years and has had to be rescued with huge annual subsidies. Bike hire schemes don't ever break...

Just joined - with a new Kalkhoff

The Integrale has the latest Evo motor, not the occasionally troublesome Impulse 2 unit, so should be ok. Congratulations on your new pedelec countarthur, hope you get years of enjoyment from it, it's an impressive looking machine. .

Can we build 750 watt road legal bicycles?

Since I've seen them break the laws on road usage and vehicle types a number of times, I doubt they cared. Channel 5's Gadget Show is just as bad in this respect. .

    Leaving the EU

The reverse of the truth, over the years all the central government does is transfer everything out to the sticks. They transferred out all of our industries, then transferring so many of the government functions. Then they started a campaign of pressure, bribes and persuasion to get such...

Can we build 750 watt road legal bicycles?

No, you still have to go through SVA as Flud says. Its not only a technical matter, there is a re-registration and VED difference that has to be accounted for. For example, as a petrol vehicle VED was payable, but as an electric, it isn't. .

    Leaving the EU

Time will tell, but it will be easy to get rid of him at any point if he steps well out of line. We showed that with Lutfur Rahman, demonstrating how safe our London systems are these days. A pity the same isn't true for our national government. .

    Leaving the EU

Of course, just as I told you the outcome, we know our city. And we will continue to thrive as we always do, showing the rest of the country how to succeed. Of course the rest of the country won't take any notice and will in the main continue to fail while being certain of their rightness...

    Giant Lafree spares or repair

You definitely can't get a complete battery or casing from Giant, even the following model's battery has been discontinued. The options are: 1) Find an old battery for it and replace the two SLA batteries inside. Most sizes of those are still available. 2) Fabricate a casing and...

Can we build 750 watt road legal bicycles?

But the national governments are far from being the worst, local government is far worse. For example, the state laws in the USA have created a chaotic mess of e-bike law, as you can read in this previous post of mine. They're not alone either, other countries with state law are doing the...

Can we build 750 watt road legal bicycles?

This isn't a solely UK site and we have many international members, particularly in the EU, so I post with that in mind. So I wouldn't use we. Instead, where I used "governments" (plural), I've added "for EU countries" to make it clear. .

Leaving them out in the rain works quite well, especially if one avoids using oil on the bike, making the dirt stick. .

    China & Taiwan Ban E-bikes

This alternate day restriction originated elsewhere and has spread quite a lot. Mexico City and several South American cities have it but only Athens in Europe so far. And in Singapore they really know how to restrict car usage, one has to be very rich and determined to be able to drive one...

Can we build 750 watt road legal bicycles?

That demands logic, so no chance. Look at this example of the thinking of governments for EU countries: Pedelec, maximum assist speed 15.5 mph - No helmet wearing required. Low Powered Moped, maximum assist speed 15.5 mph - Must wear full motorcycle helmet. S class pedelec, maximum assist...

    China & Taiwan Ban E-bikes

The trend to banning has been around for years in China, long before the decision to have an EU type pedelec law. At first it was just the odd lesser city that banned them, but later it became some key routes in major cities where e-bikes were obstructing the traffic lanes. The car had become...
