    Does bicycle weight really matter?

The Crystalite Hub Motors that I mentioned were jumping in this post seemed to stand the shocks ok. Some internally geared ones might break the extended r/h spindle. I had a sleeve solution for this in my Torq Radical and Quando conversions, shown almost half way down this link page. .

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

More details then. Cranks out of line, no cassette, chain or rear mechanism. .

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Yes, it's got no transmission. But it will still work downhill of course! .

Which is better on steep hills with a heavy riding weight, the Big Bear or the Krieger?

Equal best, but probably no legal ones better. Others that will equal it are the other bikes with the same BPM motor such as certain Kudos models and one Oxygen model, also the powerful eZee motor in their bikes or as a kit. .

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Back in 2007 Team Hybrid had a BMX e-bike team doing stunts, and they used the Crystalite rear hub motors with backpack batteries. I'm sure the batteries at that time wouldn't have been anything specially shaped and they seemed comfortable enough doing stunt jumps with the battery weight in...

Ebike to keep up with fast group

I agree with you overall for keeping up, but the OP said he wanted good hill climbing, and higher power is needed for that. I take it from him saying this that he sees his own rider power as below par for keeping up on hills on a normal bike. .

    Kalkhoff Owners Speeds?

The problem here in the UK is that the S pedelecs aren't recognised, so any of those S pedelec approvals carry no meaning with the DVLA's Vehicle Inspectorate. In fact the opposite, since any mention of the high speed pedelec class prompts the DVLA into very negative mode. I don't know the...

Does anyone use a torque wrench on their bike religiously?

Me too, including in the vehicle trade I'm qualified in. Many years of experience do count. .

8 fun moter lead damaged how to replace repair?

And make sure the wheel nut is beyond the join point first, so that any swollen section due to insulation after the repair doesn't stop you fitting the wheel. .

idiots guide to changing rear 8 fun wheel bearings please?

Yes, those precision bearings are the usual on Bafang motors. As d8veh said, it's highly unlikely they will allow any side play, hence our advice on making sure the spindle is fully over into the hub shell. When like that the inner spindle shoulder registers the hub shell and motor with no...

I think some of you need to take your bikes to the House of Lords

He has gone bit crackpot since the days of being a cabinet minister, but there's always been an element of the odd about him. Named Nigel Lason, he had his daughter christened Nigella Lawson, how self centred is that? I don't think we need worry about anyone taking him seriously any more...

    speed versus effort ?

E-bikes don't increase motor power with increasing speed once above about 8mph, and in fact a few in the past have reduced it as speed rises, since this is a requirement in Japanese law where they were made. .

I've heard that too, but I'm very satisfied with the upscaling on my Sony. It does a great job on everything, including the inputs from my recorders. .

    Kalkhoff Owners Speeds?

Don't spend too much on that call, I doubt they'll tell you anything useful. It's their Vehicle Inspectorate who do know what's needed, and at present as said, it's not possible on any existing production machine. The couple or so who have achieved it have had to change the tyres to m/c spec...

    Ultra HD Television Sets

3D agreed, but 4K is a huge improvement for TV on large screens, particularly 55" and above. I certainly wouldn't step back now. It's not so much faces as things like scenery, landscapes, wildlife where the greatly improved fine detail wins out. Another benefit is when small print, documents...

    Ultra HD Television Sets

I'm of the same opinion, and for a spaced group viewing, an inwardly curved screen is a disadvantage. Probably only ideal fro single viewing, but again I can't see much point. .

With Australian sunshine such things can be done, and they have a 3000 km solar car race there. Bikes and trikes have done it previously, but it's best with a trike or a bike and trailer, the latter to carry the panel area needed. The Australian photo below shows the sort of thing I mean: .
