Convert Single speed Specialized into Pedelec?

It's practical, but if a fixie probably best to only have throttle control to help avoid the feeling of your legs being driven at times with some pedelec types which could be unpleasant. Personally I think a single speed with freewheel would be better for being comfortable with the combination...

Hello looking for advice on building and buying

Regarding the quality if the bike parts that you mentioned, bear in mind that they can have an easier life on hub motor e-bikes due to the motor doing so much of the work. The supplementary effort you put in will wear the transmission much less than if you were doing all the work. .

Cost of new batteries - re Wisper

I once considered this but it could be very unfair Dave, so I dropped the idea. For example one well known brand of powerful e-bikes was a fairly early adopter of lithium batteries. Those batteries just weren't up to the job and with them failing in as little as three months and rarely lasting...

I've moved you to Cromwell Road, Redhill now Chris. We use the first half of the postcode to maintain privacy but some postcode areas are so large the centre indicated on the map can be miles away from someone. The postcode system was based on the old sales cell system and based on...

Cost of new batteries - re Wisper

As others have implied, much depends on a battery's life, the price of a battery in isolation is meaningless. A £500 battery that lasts four years for someone is no more expensive than the £250 one that lasts two years, and when that sort of difference exists the more expensive one often gives...

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

Multi-sprocket freewheel failures have been most likely with the cheap single bearing variety, the one inboard bearing not providing much support when the the outboard small sprockets are under load. Shimano had the similar budget Cadet range at one time, but they seem to be out of stock from...

Total loss of power on steeper climbs

That's more like suspect connections then, possibly the battery connections not always making a secure connection, though other connection failures are possibly the cause. .

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

The thread is standard and it's just called a freewheel. Check with Cyclezee, they've got some 11 to 32 ones on this page which should be ok. Of course I can't say for certain it is the freewheel causing your problem, it just seems a likely suspect. .

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

The freewheel bearings could be breaking up, and that could cause loud cracking sounds both when it's not rotating it's bearings when under load or when it's freewheeling. Multi-sprocket freewheels are inherently less strong than cassette mounted sprocket assemblies and their bearings can fail...

    Bikes vs Cars

Absolutely. Priority first to pedestrians, second horseriders and animal drawn loads, third cyclists, fourth motor vehicles. Though I doubt our wildlife would agree with that historic priority listing. .

Sad death of Cyclotricity Revolver :-( Help choosing a new ebike?

I'll second that, my present eZee bike I bought in August 2006. No idea of the total mileage any more, but on one occasion in 2008 testing a new battery type for the manufacturer I covered 3784 miles in exactly six months using it in the most brutal fashion imaginable to make sure the battery...
