Ghostly bike! Will a moving e-bike balance without a rider?

As well as on bicycles, always used to do that on my last motorbike, Honda CB500R, it was well balanced anyway and I could last any lights phase. Weird thing is that I have such poor balance on my feet, I can't stand on one foot without wobbling and having to put the other down. Just as well...

    Legality of power ratings

Currently a hybrid of Tektro and Shimano parts. However, I don't think no-name is necessarily bad. When I tested and reviewed the first Kalkhoff Agattu to hit these shores back in November/December 2007, it had unbranded V brakes which were about the best I have ever experienced in both...

Yet another London female cyclist dies

Unfortunately the CTC tend to divert anything raised on this subject back to an issue of trucks and drivers or traffic in general. I've always found them too biased to look dispassionately at any cyclist involvement aspect. .

    First Electric tricycle

I'm afraid I've never bought that argument. Early in the development of the motor vehicle it was the electric ones that were dominant, simply because they were better and more reliable. Everything stood in their favour, but as the ic engine vehicle developers struggled to catch up, the...

Bike Europe's jounal have commented on the new Kalkhoff Impulse Evo system with some data. There's no link to the article but I've copied it here:

    Electric bus fire today! Why?

We've had a few of our London diesel buses catching fire and burning out, here's one report with photos. Fortunately none of our hydrogen powered ones have gone up yet! .

Yet another London female cyclist dies

None I know of offhand. On the web I've previously found a reference to the BBC raising it a few years ago. Also TfL have raised the issue in some of the things they've said, including their assessment of the causes which I've also commented on in agreement. Nothing from the government, the...

Yet another London female cyclist dies

If you wish to post on all deaths, by all means do so, but don't quote me in any of those posts as you've been doing after I've repeatedly made it clear that I am posting about a gender specific problem. And the way you've posed this is clearly misleading, since the proportion of the relevant...

Yet another London female cyclist dies

For goodness sake Michael, what is you agenda here? I made it clear I posted on HGV related deaths, in my post with trhe data you are commenting on, I stressed four times that I was speaking of HGVs. I'm not having anything both ways: One woman lost her life in an HGV related accident for...

Smog and breathing issues - what protection to use?

A form of immunisation, interesting. .

Yet another London female cyclist dies

No idea Ferdinand, to my knowledge this has never been raised in association with cyclist deaths. The nearest to the issue has been exercises to get cyclists to appreciate what a driver can see from one of these high cab trucks. .

Smog and breathing issues - what protection to use?

I don't know, but you are definitely going to frighten the horses! Seriously, is it mainly a pollen issue, that's been extremely high currently. .

    Belt drive ratio change

I don't quite understand since it looks like it does as the killjoy says. However, I was at cross purposes anyway, since I was speaking of belt drive different gearing for the cyclist, not just the motor only. .

Yet another London female cyclist dies

No again Michael, I made it clear I was speaking of HGV related deaths, since that is the only issue I have been raising throughout the thread. The ratio is 1 to 6 for those deaths. As I posted earlier, there is no large gender imbalance in car related deaths so this issue does not apply in...

Yet another London female cyclist dies

No Michael, it's exactly as I stated: 1 female death per 1.4 million journeys (i.e. female journeys) 1 male death per 50.4 million journeys (i.e. male journeys) And I avoid saying "caused by HGV" since it implies driver blame. .

    Legality of power ratings

I don't agree, rim brakes can easily equal cable operated disc brakes and they frequently better them, a rim after all is just a very big disc. The larger the disc diameter, the more effective a disc brake can be, and the rim is the biggest disc of all. Many cable disc brakes have been quite...

    Legality of power ratings

The new type approval legislation requirements being phased in January 2016 or 2017, depending on vehicle class etc, have changed braking requirements. No precise details as yet, but the braking requirements are reduced for e-bikes below 35 kilos, which I'm sure these will be. As with power...

Benellie - with twist shift power levels and battery management

Nice idea, no good for me since i use a twist shift gear change as well as twist shift throttle. But for the many with thumb throttles and lever gear shifts it makes life simple. Would be good on the eZee bikes with their EAF multi-level power switch, that has 9 levels I think. .

Yet another London female cyclist dies

Much more than suggest though Mike. I have done some back research on the numbers from January 2008 to date. I cannot absolutely guarantee precision since one document's author acknowledges a discrepancy of 1 and I also know there is an error of 1 female and posibly 2 in last years figure...
