Kalkhoff Endeavour Impulse S11 Alfine questions

Shimano used to list their hub gear sprockets as 1/8" or 3/32" but don't always do so now. Sturmey Archer ones are compatible and they do list in both widths so the correct larger 1/8" can be used on Shimano, Sunrace Sturmey and SRAM hub gears. The snag is with crank motor units and the...

    My first half century

Yes, up into my mid sixties I used to regularly ride between 50 and 60 miles non-stop on unpowered bikes and then in my late sixties the same on either of my two eZee e-bikes, using two and a bit of three batteries carried. (Greedy motors due to 30 amp controllers) Also when in the army many...

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

Since belt drive bikes have been original equipment designs, I'm not sure about the front sprocket fitting even for a normal bike, and some crank drive units have special chainwheel mountings. The original Bosch unit could be had on bikes with belt drive, but I'm not sure about the new small...

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

That's correct. The problems are to have a frame/front toothed belt "sprocket" combination of a length to suit one of the standard belt lengths, and with a detachable section to allow belt mounting.

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

Yes, dropout strictly speaking refers to a single location for the spindle, rather than a slot. The photo below shows a dropout frame with an idler arm fitted, in this case using SRAM's frame adapter plate for adding a rear derailleur mechanism. These idler arms are available from a number of...

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

To reposition in a slot mount is why i suggested the chain adjusters, since the could give the right position if undisturbed. Best though for a single speed QR rear wheel bike would be a dropout frame, any chain adjustment achieved with an idler arm. Better with a toothed belt since no...

    Complete Beginner

That's more a matter of comfort. Having the handlebars higher is a bit less efficient since it slightly reduces pedal power input. Having the handlebars lower reduces the wind resistance of the body. But on an e-bike where you have motor assistance, what you feel most comfortable with is what...

Samsung and LG entering the e-bike market

It's something that people on the wireless often talk about. It's supposed to worth lots of money, but I've never seen any Facebooks appear on the Antiques Roadshow. Even Amazon haven't got any Facebooks for sale.

Samsung and LG entering the e-bike market

Amen to that! I too have no real need for a smartphone, being retired I can do anything I need to do online at home. When I'm out doing other things, those other things are what I'm doing, not behaving like a zombie permanently locked to internet communication at the expense of the quality of...

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

And not the only single side one of course, the Mike Burrows designs have often have them over years. They include the Giant Halfway folder, the 8freight and the Ratcatcher. They are bolt on though, standard bike components aren't strong enough for single side QR.

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

Yes, a single speed QR is possible, and of course even a common cassette derailler QR wheel can be used as single speed with the rear gearchange mechanism removed.

Folding or flipping handlebars for hallway bike storage.

No, the Beixo one is a true folding handlebar, no tools needed, I've read a good report about it. The n-fold is also a tool free design, just uses the key to release and turn the handlebar into line.

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

Yes, QD is QR and the chain adjuster is a chaintug like the one you've illustrated. Unfortunately it's impossible to have quick release spindles with hub gears since the gearchange mechanism uses the spindle centre run.

    haibike bosch motor?

Buy both. Seriously, whatever one you choose will leave you permanently wondering if your decision was right. Therefore it probably doesn't matter which you choose. The decider is really a matter of if you are an optimist or a pessimist. An optimist, buy the Haibike, a pessimist, buy...

Is it possible to remove easily a rear wheel?

A belt drive single speed QD spindle bike would be the best design for this purpose, it would be clean and simple to remove the rear wheel. More practical would be what's available, a hub gear with belt drive, but constantly undoing and tightening the wheel nuts could cause wear problems. Also...

Folding or flipping handlebars for hallway bike storage.

The snag is that it doesn't fold as such, it needs an Allen key to collapse it down. So too slow for daily use and could start to fail if constantly loosened and tightened.
