    eBrompton Build

Putting it all together – the first time I first needed to connect the conversion kit bits together to check it all works. Once I have done that, and given the bike a test ride, I can review and test the battery options and then can I finally work out which bag to use to store the battery...

    eBrompton Build

I dont use washing up liquid, but for sure I make sure the tyre bead is pushed down and hooked in all the way round. Not a Granny, but I have been for 50+ years fitting tyres to cycles such as Moulton, Raliegh RSW 16, Bikerton and for the last 20 years a Brompton. I will give it another go...

The rim is circa 2mm less diameter. The Continentals are easy to fit by hand, no levers needed, so no 'unnecessary force' needed either.

    eBrompton Build

They are nice tyres. When eBrompton is finished, I intend to remove the Swytch electric kit from my old Brompton, so I have a much lighter bike for local stuff that will force a bit more exersize. The tyres on that are Marathon plus, the Continentals do run better, slightly narrower and...

    eBrompton Build

Here are pictures of a standard Brompton rim (first picture) and the supplied motor wheel rim (second picture) You can see the differences. Do I have a battery ? I have been trying to get a custom battery built using a 10S1P pack of Samsung INR21700 40T or SAMSUNG INR21700 50S. Accepted...

To prevent a fire in the home, would it be safer to charge my ebike battery dangling outside in a waterproof box on the end a rope out of a window?

If you use a nylon rope of the right size, the fire will quickly cut the rope for you. Better than Nylon would be Spectra\Dyneema (e.g. used for kite strings) it has a lower melting point, 147C versus 220C.

The PAS The supplied two part PAS disc does fit on the left crank. The gap between the small curved frame tube that forms part of the triangle by the bottom bracket and the inner surface of the PAS disk is 31mm. The PAS sensor itself is 19mm high when level on the adjustable bracket and can...

I am looking for a partner to produce an add-on torque sensor for the BBS01

There are good reasons for that. I was mainly interested in building one for my own use, its useful to have and gives you something to do. You might think then, why not sell them ? Although it would be cheap to build it is a radio transmitter and the regulations around UKCA & CE etc are...

How to convert a bicycle to an E-bike?

Fair point, rear hub gears are popular is some parts of the World, Holland for instance. They used to be popular in the UK too, but in recent years there seems to have been an obsession in having as large a number of gears as possible. The OP wanted the converted bike for London commuting...

I am looking for a partner to produce an add-on torque sensor for the BBS01

And now ARM are a major Global manufacturer, with ARM chips in most all mobile phones. I wuz there, this machine arrived in the Lab something called an Archimedes, the first ARM powered device in the World, which Acorn wanted us to build. The significance of the event could not have been...

I am looking for a partner to produce an add-on torque sensor for the BBS01

BBC Micro ? I spent a few years looking after the Electronics side of the manufacture of those, several years at AB Electronics in Abercarn. Not a small outfit, we used to make around 5,000 beebs a week at a manufacturing cost of around £130. Heady days. So much going on, so much to keep...

I am looking for a partner to produce an add-on torque sensor for the BBS01

The World has been running on 3.3V for a long long time, and a lot more 1.8V stuff around too. It seems that only the Arduino hobby sector seems to use 5V. One of the first PCBs I designed, using the sticky transfers and crepe tape method, was a memory expansion board for an Amusement machine...

    "Get me Home" Battery

I have taken my smaller 36V 10Ahr as a spare when on long trips. That battery is a hailong type so directly swappable with the one already on the bike. Although there are smaller batteries out there, the 4.4Ahr hoverboard batteries for instance, one suspects the voltage sag on hills might...
