The EBIKE Law that doesn't make ANY SENSE (and it DISCRIMINATES)

I agree. Change the limits for pedelecs and the limits will be broken a little bit more and you will end up having more people riding around on 'motorbikes' but they will not have followed the requirements for type approval, use regulations, driving licenses, insurance, MOTs, etc. I see no...

Would a Dawes Karakum be a reasonable donor bike for use when using an e bike conversion kit.

I would agree, for sure decent hydraulic disk brakes are good to have, safer no doubt, but I would definetly not be put off by a lack of disk brakes. Rim brakes on wheels of that size are in use all over the World and have been for many many years. A million 16" wheel Bromptons have been built...

A few video highlights from the last day of my recent tour.

In my experience most all drivers ignore any notion of judging speed, if the road is clear and the lines are solid they will overtake.

The EBIKE Law that doesn't make ANY SENSE (and it DISCRIMINATES)

Or perhaps he does and just mis-represents the situation in order to produce a video that will get more views == more money.

    eBrompton Build

Monitoring battery and power usage Its useful to be able to see what's happening with the battery, how much power and current is being used. I could fit an LCD3 display to eBrompton and that will show the power usage, but I would prefer to see the current being used. I had earlier tried a...

Complete Beginner, what should I buy?

I once beat Colin Jackson (holder of the 110M hurdles World Record at the time) up the steps at the local mainline train station, both of us rushing to catch the train. Colin used to live not far away. I was carrying Brompton he was carrying a suitcase.

Tiniest soldering job so far/Adventures in solderspace

I have some flux like that, dont use it much though, I get decent joints with just cored solder. Is useful when joining wires if there are not too clean.

Tiniest soldering job so far/Adventures in solderspace

That flux is the bees knees for soldering SMT stuff. Also very good indeed when used with solder wick for de-soldering stuff.

Tiniest soldering job so far/Adventures in solderspace

My goto solder for 'tiny' soldering jobs is 0.25mm. Its good for fine SMT stuff when you dont want the polava of using paste.

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

If the Police really were interested in getting the message across about illegal eScooters then they could just turn up outside a school in the morning\afternoon and confiscate any illegal eScooters.

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

Yep. Real sad is it not, a single 'reponsible (?) adult' sending a message to a school of children that its OK to use eScooters for transporting children.

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

His ? I doubt the degree of burn that an officer of the law imposed on his or her sausages in the morning has any legal implications. However, if your breaking the current law, cycling where you should not be for instance and you object to being prosecuted then take your complaint to those...

    Riding ebike in the rain

No protection needed. You need to retire, then if its raining or there is just a hint that it might rain, you can stay at home, sleep, watch Wimbledon etc.

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

I do see quite a few of those large motor rear wheel ebikes when out and about. And this in itself is part of the issue, even if illegal bikes are being riden OK, the apearance of so many normalises their existance on the roads, so is it surprising that the less responsible riders use them too ?
