20" front wheel hub motor, gearing questions !

Have you considered one of these. They are popular in recumbent bike. No power monsters but more than enough assistance to make pedaling easy. Nice freewheel light and almost silent. Tongxiin 35V, 250W, 290RPM (easily get you to 18mph). You can buy them direct from China with controller...

    Tongxin Motors - Higher RPM

Fair point Dave and I agree would work. Of course I would then need to change my simple cheap bulk charging solution. Also as I use two 5s2p or 6s1p Konian or A123 packs this would require at least 2 or 4 cells to be added. Also as you know I have an obsession with keeping weight down on my...

    Tongxin Motors - Higher RPM

I never realised that you could now get the original narrow 80mm wide Tongxin "nano" motors in the higher RPM, i.e. I thought the max was 260RPM After correspondense with Anna at Outrider I just received two 36v, 28H, 290RPM motors to try. Although mostly I use the smaller Keyde motors in my...

    Q75 / Q85 Query

Yes you have the correct female on the battery. The middle male deans is the wrong way round and you don't need the other female deans. You solder that (the male) directly to the controller and then you can plug the longer male pins into the female of the battery. Positive always goes on the...

    Quote of the Week

Yep and then after he got his motorbike he would go on to say he would then save for a car :( But the good news then is that after sitting in traffic jams on the daily commute he would go back to using his bike, to which he would add electric assistance :p Jerry

    Q75 / Q85 Query

Yep pretty much constant throttle use. I have never used a BMS on any of my A123 packs. I agree though you should first test your regular commute with a watt meter to see how much capacity it takes and then ensure you don't discharge it more than 3/4. Even though initially I ran my first pack...

Back to track, complete brompton maintenance

cwah, Nice offer but it seems that postal services are getting harder and stricter with batteries/cells. I have heard that many cells shipped from China are being returned when they get to HK for shipping. Many Chinese suppliers on ebay will no longer ship to the UK. Regards Jerry
