Just a thought on a hot topic

Still left with a great amount of energy to be dissipated, not sure if endining up with an incandescent steel box to live with, moves one very far safety wise.

    Time for a helmet camera?

Away from the bargain basement action cameras, into the better quality performance stuff, the asking prices go exponential; it seems a minefield. Focused on getting a forward facing camera, only really needed for day light, one & half hour rides, but wanting a pretty high quality of resolution...

    Ultimate bike camper?

WR, how unfortunate, my memories are so very different but probably coloured by the passing of now sixty years; the best camping experiences of our lives, youth, girlfriend, bikes and tent, an idyllic combination.

Low step for a man yes or no?

Plus, as my wife used there are high cross bar frames that have the geometry and porportions for "women" and marketed as such, Giants "Liv" range being one that was widely sold. Not that IMO women or men have particular geometries, nor even size, what makes most senses is a bike layout that you...

Low step for a man yes or no?

Yes. I am in my 80s, I have and regularly ride cross bar road bikes, a Brompton and a low step through e-bike; if a male riding a step through troubles others, I see that as their, not my problem. A down side is a step through can't place the metal where structurally it would be best, so tends...

Apologies, clearly, I must be thinking of a different posting.

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

I recall we were told "Winsley", that killer drag up from Limpley Stoke towards Bradford on Avon, B3108. Quite a test.

Or a Brompton or similar that you can take on the D1 bus.;)

Enough Power for a Pensioner on Steep Hills

Torque in itself has no relevance unless both, referenced to the road wheel and the road wheel's radius; it's the "pushing" force that torque develops to move the bike that matters. Power only effects how fast the bike moves, not the hills it can climb, unless it is moving so slowly you can't...

    Step through bike uphill

Of course, it is "tosh" as "chis997" comments, what matters is the balance of stiffness and strength the designer was able to impart into the frame design. Certainly, the lightest non extreme route to getting this balance right is with a cross tubed frame, witness what universally we see in the...

    Tsdz2 way too many problems.

In UK legal guise and current model build standard, how reliable are these drives proving to be? One senses the OP could well not be using what would be a legal UK system, though the fastener seizing issue could be a more a universal problem, one not "power" related. I also sense some direct...

Why would you not wear a Cape in the rain?(current equivalent "Poncho")

Pretty well sums up my situation, plus I know I have my cape somewhere, but finding it could well be a task too far.

Why would you not wear a Cape in the rain?(current equivalent "Poncho")

I used a cape for decades, but drifted into purpose designed cycling clothes, that just one feature was wet weather use. And I think that's the cape's issue, it's a wet weather specific accessory, whereas good cycling gear is far more multipurpose, including cold windy days and wet. The cape has...

    Bike or Cycle?

As with most things language related here today its best not to get overly wound up about "correctness", provide you grasp what the person is on about. In the final analysis language is for many simply a tool to communicate with, rather than an art form. Otherwise, we could go ballistic at now...

Totally confused by watts and amps

A good reason as in the computer industry, as Samsung did, then the bike charger should have a facility to limit recharging to 80%? A value that might well suit a high percentage of users and bring both greater safety and longevity gains? If it's dangerous to leave a charger unattended, and or...

Totally confused by watts and amps

Why and how does a charger "age"? I can see non identical batteries, possibly resulting for changes /advances in technology, could need a different charger/ or routine, but surely if replacing a like for like battery, the original charger will be as suitable today as it was 5 years ago?

    Rear lights - recommendations?

Rather my concern if they get 1800 Lumens in their eyes ;) I agree though there are odd motorist that pass way too close, some I suspect on a mission to do so. At the same time there are cyclist, typically groups, on a mission to screw up motorised vehicle users; odd people out there.

    Rear lights - recommendations?

Which I do as well, at least a rear light and typically in "day time flash" mode. I am a great believer in "it's in my best interest I am seen", hence a high viz jacket, yellow helmet and bright yellow panniers, each with reflective markings; none of this stealth cycling in all black, seeking...

    Rear lights - recommendations?

With an array of 1800 Lumen lighting on a bike you could not find a better visual way to invite them to at least take an in depth interst in the bike and the rider!
