What current limit are you running your BBS at? I know you also have "keep current" at 100% which for me (having tried) is too much/wasteful, and kill these current batteries in no time. IIRC mine's about 40% (I need to check) but that's fine for me.
What battery capacity/cells/current settings...
Thanks everyone for your inputs... all comments appreciated.
The bike is in Norfolk (and I'm not at the moment), but next opportunity I have I'm going to link my bike back up to the Speeed App to re-check what the "current" (i.e. Amps) setting is and what that limit can be. IIRC, it had been...
I don't know what the existing batteries weigh, but labouring under the misapprehension that a larger capacity battery might weigh a notable amount more, I didn't really want to permanently saddle this bike with that extra weight for my shorter/sub-25-mile rides. But 25-mile rides are quite...
Ah, I stand corrected... 26F then,,, it's been 4 years since I opened one of the packs. 18650 pinkies though. I guess one battery of higher (double) capacity will logically be the best route to take.
I hear you. But this bike is for good weather touring on Norfolk back roads. I do have a rack on another e-bike for commuting, but don't want a rack, panniers or mudguards etc - i.e. excess weight - on this one for the specific purpose this particular bike is being used for... it's dry weather...
So, one of my e-bikes is powered by a 350w Bafang MaxDrive motor. It came with a 374Wh 10.4 Ah Samsung 29E Pinky celled battery pack which, then, was a respectable if mediocre cell... I bought a second at the same time which the dealer was keen to clear at £150... that was IIRC 2019?
Anyway...
If you're worried, you need to take it to your dealer to run a battery test. Giant offer silly guarantees of 1000 cycles to 80%, which IMHO can be optimistic given the abuse some put their batteries through, but even so, you'll likely be well covered if there's anything iffy with it.
No point venting your spleen... You seem lucky to have received anything at all given that merkybikes website has now disappeared without trace. I'd be interested to know what persuades anyone to part with such a lump of money in the first place given the brand has no real history at all. Due...
I have an e-bike from Ebco that uses the same motor/battery/system from TranzX. The American division of Raleigh and others used the same system on a number of their e-bikes, and those had throttles fitted although US bikes had an uprated 350w version of the M16 motor to allow 20mph assist as...
Take it to your Council tidy-tip/refuse collection point - they have the proper facilities for disposing of them properly. I don't know of any Council that won't accept them; they've taken everything from AA cells, through old Ni-Mh and Li-Ion tool batteries, and even a few old car/leisure...
Funnily enough, Corratec distribution has been handled by Ebco in the UK AFAIK since forever... maybe that's where they got the inspiration for their own "not-folding mid-drive e-bike" from? The OP's Life model has been around a good few years now: It just looks a little strange to me though...
We all think our own bikes look cool, don't we? Nobody is going to willingly buy a bike they think looks like a total dog unless they're really strapped for cash and it's all they can afford.
I'm still not seeing any attraction to Riding Rad either. My 20" Fiido is less than half the weight (17.5kg stripped, 19kg with rack and all the bits and bobs attached), and half the price. If it were made of pig-iron, it'd likely still weigh less.
I can't imagine cycling a 36kg bike with no gears and a legal 250 watt motor up a hill. The later Rad-Runner versions at least had gears (and suspension IIRC).
It's in the Bafang Technical manual @AGS linked in post #11... at least for the M500 (the M510 isn't shown). 6v @ 3W = 500mAh. That wouldn't light a candle.
Let's hope Mariobike extend their generosity to all that might end up blowing their controllers with free replacements, seeing they'd be...
The next question should be what is the combined current draw of both lights? Usually when I've seen controller-switched front and back lights, the rear light is just a token single LED, not an array.
The lights should say in the leaflet/manual, and then worth checking with Bafang what the...
Yes, I do, an M400. As I understand it, the supply provided by the controller in the motor doesn't provide enough current to power anything of substance - i.e. that's properly bright - hence why it's normally limited to just one light.
I did toy with the idea as you have done, but would have...
As I understand it from those that do these types of review, they don't just send it to him unsolicited... they ask him if he wants one to review, and there's no obligation to accept it or review it favourably. He should have asked the basic questions first - i.e. does it meet UK/EU regs -...
You seem to have missed @flecc's point entirely: As reported in the press last year (here for example), you WONT be able to buy any new Rad bikes in the UK or EU from this year (2024) as they've decided to withdraw entirely from these markets.
A member noted this as a problem for his Vengeance in a recent thread and advised how to correct it here: two other Vengeance owners also replied to say it solved their issues too, so it's easy to check and eliminate as a first step.
