    Mirrors...or Not ?

I prefer a mirror attached to my spectacles, as it provides an apparently larger view & its easy to move your head to sweep behind you...

Bafang displays with navigation and Bluetooth

looking at the pictures if you pair your phone to the screen then the screen will display left/right arrows, whereas if you use a phone you will have a map & directions. Also it uses the current Communication Protocol:Uart so is not backwards compatible with the old style motors.

Is this a technical breach of the law? Uncertain

Its often the only way to cross a main road when a cycle lane is on one side only & you need to get to the other side

Pedestrian causing cyclist death gets 3 years prison

that was my initial reaction - but when I read more in depth articles including the judge's summing up I now feel that the pedestrian did contribute to the death of the cyclist.

Its my anti theft camouflage When I used to commute & had to leave my cycle all day at the train station I was the only one not to have his bike either stolen or parts taken. It pays to have it looking like rubbish, although mechanically everything is A1, but it just means a thief will leave it...

I agree I never use them during daylight, I find that a fluorescent covered arm straight out is more likely to be noticed that a small flashing light. But at night my arm will not be visible so I will use the indicators.

Well I have used it about a half dozen times along the main road (A2) which has a 40mph limit & is very narrow (3.6m) in places - without any feedback from vehicles behind me (no beeping of horns or getting close to overtake), but I do always wave vehicles on to overtake as soon as it's clear...

Because I run power via a fuse from the battery I used lights etc that can cope. I looked though Amazon, Ebay & Aliexpress - they have different colours. Also I remember getting some glass paint to go inside the lens to get the shade I wanted. For the switches again I looked around until I...

Not true - here is a link to an informative article https://ipayroadtax.com/no-such-thing-as-road-tax/bring-back-the-road-fund/ So no taxation is ring fenced not even national insurance contributions although it is supposed to be.

I tried cameras but they do not work. Kent Police used to allow you to upload video , even if they never did anything about it, now all you can do is put in a report & wait to see if they ask you to upload the video proof. After submitting ten without once hearing back from them I gave up. No...

Ok I accept your view but i'm interested to know your reasoning behind it. What is idiotic about it? What is dangerous?

Assuming you mean what mirror works best then I have found "Third Eye Eyeglass Bicycle Mirror" best. I tried the Chinese square version, but the arm is too longer & bendy, so that it wobbles. So I went back to the Third Eye Eyeglass Bicycle Mirror which is more expensive & being plastic wears...

I have two on the handlebars, but I mainly use the mirror attached to my glasses, as by turning my head I can point it around to see traffic from all directions.

I don't understand, as its about the same length as the Oxford safety reflector It just looks longer because its white & very narrow. It's under half the legal minimum passing distance. As the law sets a fixed distance, it has to be measured, which you do with ruler or a pole with a known...

That's part of my anti- theft system! No - I just looked at what was required to pass a MOT for a motorbike or moped, as I thought they have had a 100 years to get all the safety features right, so I will copy them. Hence indicators, brake lights, horn plus I have got caught out in fog on unlit...

stop close passing for about a tenner

Its not dangerous as its made of flexible plastic on a swivel - so if hit it moves, but no driver should be anywhere near it as its only half the minimum passing distance. I think of it more as a helpful guide for drivers - how else are they supposed to measure 1.5m when overtaking, nobody has...

the pole extends 70cm beyond my handlebars - minimum safe distance for overtaking at 30mph is 1.5m, I'm mainly cycling on roads with 40mph plus speed limits.

After reading guerney post "Hoping to increase driver passing distance at night, I've glued front and rear reflectors to my wing mirrors." it got thinking. I wanted a warning pole to make drivers give me more room, but when in traffic I wanted to retain the narrowness of a bicycle. So onto...

Hoping to increase driver passing distance at night, I've glued front and rear reflectors to my wing mirrors.

I would like some method of avoiding close passes. My best thought is some type of thin flag pole say 1.5m long mounted on the handlebar at the right. when on roads I would lower it with say a pennant /light so vehicles would stay that distance away But when approaching a line of traffic I...
