Haibike isn't out of the picture at all. Look at E-Bikes direct, I got a Haibike Trekking 4 which is designed for exactly what you need it for, I got mine for under £1700. Done 700 miles since March and love it. I have a thread on here under the 'road test' bit, and have a look at their website...
Since I have been hammering around on my Haibike Trekking 4.0, I have had neck and shoulder aches. My neck muscles were sore and it was affecting my posture, giving me some cracking head aches. I couldn't figure out what it was as I had never had them before and been cycling for many years. It...
My brakes work exceedingly well as it happens, they are just noisy where the discs have been drilled. Not heard any one else mention it so wondered if it was the material of the brake pads themselves. If it was my car that had drilled discs and made this noiseI would say there is something amiss.
Thanks for the article link. I have done 700 miles on my Haibike Trekking, mostly roads and tracks, and my pads seem fine so far, but will need replacing in a few months I suspect. They are noisy on the drilled discs I notice, is that normal?
Weight is not an issue for me - I weigh about 11.8 st or about 75kg. Saddle and handlebar modifications were for comfort and a better forward view.
For thrashing around I use a 1976 Dawes racing bike and a boat:
Hang on, how did this thread about modifications get on to my weight?
" All you have to do is stop eating pizzas, pies, chips, cakes, sweets and biscuits."
I don't understand that sentence at all. Also, I was carrying beer and cider so that's alright then...
Funny you should mention this, been looking at getting one for while but just never got around to it. All sorted now, just ordered it thanks! At £14 if it turns out to be rubbish it's not the end of the world!
I have found that I have subtly modified my Haibike Sdurr0 4.0 Trekking, and thought I would share them with you just in case it is useful to others too:
1. Raised handlebar. I found it more comfy in traffic to have my head lifted up more, so for about £12 I got a longer stem which extended the...
Attitudes will change in time and e-bikes will be seen as alternative transport to the car for almost anyone, like the Dutch do already, and not fashion accessories to bring you to the point of a heart attack.
Did some supermarket shopping with mine today. Bike weighed a ton with 8 pints of...
If you are used to a standard non ebike the Pannier mounted batteries make the bike feel unstable as the centre of gravity is so high. Takes a bit of getting used to!
I am a fit 56 year old. I use mine as transport, instead of using the car. I have a standard bike for a good old thrash, but to beat the traffic and save fuel I use the ebike. As I tell other people, and as has been mentioned, who is that cheating?
600 miles in and this is what I have done to it:
Replaced handlebar stalk with a taller one so I am more upright. I spend a majority of the time cycling in town so viewing forward is much better.
Put on toeclips. Much better!
Put a go pro camera on the front.
Put a soft gel seat cover over the...
Read that as well, that another cyclist witness it and wasn't too impressed with how defendant approached the hazard, and expected a collision. Instead of braking the defendant sounded his horn and assumed the crowd would clear. If he had time to do that, he had time to slow and brake.
Easy to...
Aah, I wonder if the op has a new bike as I suspect, or got a pre 2016 one? My wife has a Crosspath and it does have a walk button on it that is inactive.
