    How Unlucky Is This Guy?

If he contacts the real owner he should be able to supply the key and charger.

    Puch eMaxi Build

There was one of those at the auction where I got the Puch and it sold for £1100 https://www.easyliveauction.com/catalogue/lot/b0f46a5e04e53b770f4817398a7ba667/0af8d24542e81eb9357e7ef448a6646f/classic-vintage-motorcycle-auction-at-haynes-motor-mu-lot-124/

Help! Hall Error 03 Akezbike Hall Sensor

I use hot glue inside my motors. The trouble with high strength glue is it’s too permanent, so if a hall sensor needs changing in the future it’s a real pain and you risk damaging the insulation on the windings trying to get it off.

    Puch eMaxi Build

I made a new slimmer battery box because the first one was too bulky and painted it matt black. And I added a ventilation grill for the controller. I also fitted NTC 10 temperature sensors inside the controller and the motor. The motor came with a KTY 83 but my controller and display can’t...

New owner questions - advice pls

If it’s brand new, the brakes won’t have been bed in yet. I bed mine in by doing 15 near stops on the front and then 15 on the back. Then let it cool down for 15 minutes and 5 near stops using both front and back brakes, then let it cool down again. That deposits enough pad material on the...

    Display lcd

You have to be careful and really need to find out what controller is fitted to your bike. And even then a compatable display may not work properly if the firmware inside the controller has been customised. You can’t really go on the connector wiring either as different displays have the same...

Carrera crosscity folding bike rear hub

There should be more markings on the outside of the case that show the model code. The printing on the halls pcb suggests it’s a Bafang SWX.

    03 info during ride

My guess is your motor is getting hot and the hall sensors are shutting down. Then they start working again when they have cooled down. At that kind of power you should really be monitoring your motor temperature.

Carrera crosscity folding bike rear hub

It looks to me that someone has tried to fit the wrong gear set to it. Can you post a photo of the engraving on the motor cover?

    Brake sensors XF08 tektro

I fix them using hot glue and test, so I can easily move them if they need to be adjusted. I don’t bother with the sticky pads that are supplied anymore. Then when I’m happy with the position I peel off the hot glue and clean up with a bit of alcohol, then use high strength glue for a...

    E-bike lifter

I used to have an upright bike rack mounted on the wall in my garage. Not sure if the OP is trying to do this or mount it on their car. If it’s in the garage then a hoist would be useful. If on the back of a car then that’s more problematic.

My KT controller has L settings. It’s L1 where you can set the under voltage value to be manual or automatic.

    Dual voltage

If you disconnect the battery and then switch on the display power button the capacitors in the controller will discharge and you should be good to go. The display should come on for a few seconds while the capacitors are discharging and then it should go blank. I always do this when I’m doing...

Hub test box - worth doing?

There are different styles on eBay. Some have leds going around in a circle so you can visualise the phases inside a motor and some have LEDs in a straight line. Maybe worth getting a box of these as well so you can make up some more test leads...

Hub test box - worth doing?

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance

If the mosfet test fails then you will need a new controller. It is possible to replace the mosfets, but I don’t think that is something you could do. And there is no guarantee that will fix the problem because other more delicate components in the controller could also be damaged. If the...

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Mosfets have two modes of failure, they can go either open circuit or short circuit. A typical failure in a motor controller is a mosfet going short circuit and the simple test that Neal linked to will tell you that in just a few minutes. We see a lot of people on this forum replace parts...

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance

ike = bike. It would be useful if you can post a photo of the label on the controller. If you do decide to replace the controller it would be easier if you could get exactly the same, otherwise you may need to do some rewiring, which isn’t easy when you have to run wires through the frame.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance

You could try that if you don‘t have the ability to test the controller properly. But you still could end up having the same problem. And create even more if you buy the wrong controller/display combination. If you have a multimeter and know how to use it, you can do some simple tests to...

Have you examined all of the connectors to make sure the pins are in good condition? I use a magnifying glass for this.
