3,500 miles – 25 Days – No Motor !
No strictly an eBike thread but something i have to share.
This weekend saw 2 local lads complete an epic 3,500mile cycling journey through 8 counties over 25 days all for charity.
Former Newcastle United player Robbie Elliott teamed up with his friend and triathlete Phil Gray to raise money for the Bobby Robson foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The ride saw Robbie and Phil cycle from Lisbon to Newcastle via every club that Sir bobby Robson managed during his incredible football career.
The lads climbed the height of Everest 4 times over the 25 days, cycled through horrendous conditions including snow, gale force winds and thunder and lightning. Robbie picked up a bug half way through the ride causing him to need to be hospitalised on 2 occasions to receive an intravenous drip to give his body some much needed fluids.
Ian and I joined 300+ other riders on Saturday morning to welcome Robbie and Phil home and join them on their final 33 mile loop through Northumberland.
I’m sure you’ll all agree it’s an amazing effort. Just think about cycling 9 hours a day, every day, for 25 days ... 140(ish) miles each day... simply amazing!
You can find out more about the chaps and their amazing storey (that has been filmed for a documentary) here The Robbie Elliott Foundation | Bike for Bobby
If after you’ve read this you want to show the guys some support you can donate to their charity by either texting TREF03 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070, e.g. TREF03 £10
OR via their just giving page
Thanks
Trevor
