5 pin connector but only two wires? Is this normal?

Hello. I have a 5 pin connector (see pictures), and I want to replace the battery.

My first question is can anyone recommend a battery?

I am looking for a large capacity battery (50 miles or more).

My second question:

The strange thing is that only two pins are actually attached to wires (see pic). Is this normal? This is the case for both the female and male parts of the connection. If this is not normal how do I get around this when replacing the battery?

Please help I'm very new to all this!

Yes it is quite normal for only two to be used.
