Hi

I currently have a heavy duty surly MTB 29er rigid steel fork on my front hub conversion

Sick of the potholes and looking to replace with a suss fork

It needs to be steel, 700c, disc compatible and not have such long travel that the bike is lifted up loads at the front

Any thoughts ?

Btw I do have a suspension post already - I partly want to prevent hits to the front hub/rim as I've buckled one already

Thanks as ever
Kirstin

Hello Kirstin,
When I was looking for sus forks for a 700c disc there seemed very few, in the end I only found one which was a Suntour NEX in Ali. Height wise it lifted the front up by 70mm but once I'm on the bike it is nearer 50mm with rider weight. There may be others out there but these work well for me in town and for general road use.

Before fitting new forks, what size tyres do you have? Can you fit wider ones?

I could on front but not rear

I see what you are getting at but I think a suss fork will protect myself and motor from shock a little better than balloon tyres
