Hi all.
I cycled under power for about 200meters thismorning when the electrics failed.
Pressing the "on" button on the LCD display, it starts, but fades and dies in a few seconds.

Removing and reinstalling the battery - I can get the bike to start up and go for a few meters before it dies again.

The battery is fully charged. The indicator lights on battery confirm this.
LCD is FULL of condensation - lots of wet weather the last week.

Anyone with a similar experience? Help please!

I live in Norway - far from my dealer and with limited options for a qualified local repair.
Thanks...

Update...
Alive again but unwell.
I took apart the LCD unit and let it dry out. This seem to be working fine now. I've just been for a 5 mile cycle.

At first the bike workes ok but i noticed it took about 3 revolutions of the crank before the power kicked in.

Towards the end of the ride the power stopped kicking in at all. LCD still appears fine.

I'll check out the connections to the crank sensor and report back later....

Glad to learn it's ok now Riverboots. I'm sorry you received no help at the time of your first posting above, but you're right, this damp problem is very common on e-bikes with their electrical parts scattered around the bike with numerous connections.

My damp cure is to put the offending e-bike in a small closed room with a dehumidifier and a small fan heater running. That usually does the trick in only an hour or two.

Hi Riverboots, and thanks Flacc!

Riverboots, please excuse my late reply.

It seems either the LCD display or other connections became temporarily damp. This normally is not a problem so you may have a connection that is lose and not watertight. If you cannot easily get the bike back to the Wisper Dealer easily it would certainly be worth taking some time to do some checking. As Flecc says, the problem will always be cured by keeping the bike in a warmer room when stored.

If you continue to have problems please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Best regards

David

Thankyou for your reply flecc. It is good to know the problem may be more general and not just with my bike. Although I love the bike I do feel that some of the engineering solutions used regarding the electrics appear rather at the prototype stage. I look forward to the day when these things are just as reliable as a modern car.

Indeed, we can all echo that sentiment! One problem is that electric bike design hasn't settled into a general pattern in the way that car design has, so specific development of perfected minor parts to supply the whole industry hasn't occurred yet. No doubt it will happen as our industry reaches the age of the motor industry, but that will be too late for me!

However, you'll see from David's reply above that you have the right make of bike to get excellent support.
