Two new Marathon Plus tyres fitted and out for a ride before it got dark.

Straight away the bike felt different, a much nicer ride, superb positive handling and next to no rolling resistance(compared the the tyres that came off that were a cross MTB road tyre) Pushed my luck a bit on a few corners and she gripped like the proverbial. This was my first decent ride since fitting the Quill stem extender and that has made so much difference to the sitting position. So much so that I dropped the angle of my barends and re-positioned the crampbuster. My hands now rest on the main bars and my wrist area leans on the barends with the crambuster/throttle right next to my thumb. Now with this new riding position I`m able to keep up a faster cadence which has the affect of allowing the pedal assist to maintain a better level of assistance. Coming to hills allows me to put a touch of throttle on with my thumb and in general keep up the same speed.

I can`t stress enough to newbies to explore different things if you get any pains or discomfort because you might well turn a decent ride into a very pleasant experience.
Can`t wait to come up behind a Lycra cos this bike and set up goes like a bat out of hell if you put a bit of effort in.

So from a disappointing first experience with the conversion and after some customising I can honestly say I seem to have gotten it right at last and can get the benefit from the light weight of the bike and the top class running gear that I chose 20 years ago.

BTW the crank set on the bike is the Shimano Biopace set up and you can read about it here Biopace Chainwheels
